Best Way To Find Rental House?

Featured Replies

Hi all, I am relocating, (finally), to LOS in June and will soon need to start thinking about finding a house for me the wife and our 2 x dogs. Just after some advice on the best method of finding a place. It seems that half of the properties on agents websites are years old, or else they are "rented" but similar properties available. A local guy suggested I just jump in a car and drive around until I see one with a sign out the front, and another bit of advice was to post on TV. Any suggestions, advice or success stories welcomed. Thanks in advance for any ideas.

You have not mentioned a location so that people can help you!

That is good advice, once you arrive and have decided a locale

Best to have a Thai speaker with you, to negotiate the rent.

Is your wife Thai, perhaps family contacts can help?

oops...sorry about that. We are thinking of the Bang Na area....wife is non Thai but I do have Thai PA. Good advice about taking her with me to negotiate rents etc.

Thanks for your response.

Drive around, it's what locals do.

Using an agent or a web site will double the rental price.

Especially it the agent speaks English or the web site is in English.

Thanks for the advice guys. Seems like driving around and finding a place myself is the best way to go.

First problem, you havent stated your budget.

Second problem, do you want a house in a gated community, if so, you wont just be driving around looking at signs.

All these gated communities have security guards at the enterance and unless you are expected you may not be allowed access.

Anyway for what its worth, have your PA visit the following site, ddproperty.

The following are from the first two pages for the BangNa area, couldnt be bothered searching any further.

http://www.ddproperty.com/property/show/151450

The above is 4 bedroom 3 bathroom for 50k per month.

4 bedroom 4 bathroom, says 68k per month then further down says 65k.
