In line with the testing to renew ED extensions of stay, I heard that they were going to add a "grumble" test to the requirements of renewing marriage and retirement extensions! Many posters on TV would qualify for an automatic 10 year extension!

We had another power outage on Friday evening and another on Saturday. Fridas power came back after a couple of hours and when Nee rang the PEA guy on Saturday the power came back 10 minutes later. Aparrantly nobody told him about it.

Up at our end of the world rechargeably torches and big candles are being bought/recharged etc for the next 2 months rainy season.

We have lived here for 10 years and the amount of houses has doubled but the infrastructure has stayed as it was 10 years ago.

I only hope your not including a very young H/M in that 10 year bit.

I'm off down south just past N/S tomorrow have packed my swimming gear just in case will be back tomorrow night so watch out for my report.

Bill.

I think it's about time you got yourself a generator.

Mike has got one of those just in case his power go's down in the bar restaurant. Fitted it 3 years ago and I don't think he's ever used it.

You could of cause move back towards town we do have the odd power cut here had one only this morning but less than two Minutes later all back to normal. Cant remember when we had the last one.

But the internet went down for a couple of hours the other night during a very heavy storm, also my CTH for 10min's or so but the cable TV set up we have carried on working.

I think it's called civilisation.

Went past your sons school the other afternoon at turn out time, I now know why you don't like to pick him up the traffic was something else. I thought at one time I had made a bugger up and ended up in N/S.

Well rechargeable torches are not too expensive neither are candles.

A half decent gererator is around 20k baht and a good diesel one is in excess of 50k I think.

It seems to be mostly the 230V low power line that trips and my mate who owns the resort got the PEA to put in a 415 to 230 volt transformer of his own but that is about 88k baht though much better than power outages. We have lived here for 10 years and are used to it. Everybody knows where the torches are and when the power comes back the torches go on charge again.

I am happy out here as I have most of the things to make life easy for most of the time and when something isn't avaiable there is usually a work around or an alternative.

You have a different mind set to me Bill I want to turn a tap on 24/7 and it works or a switch so I can electrocute Mr's H/M if she gets out of hand. Oh and my daily BKK post.

But I digress my trip down south Mrs H/M didn't go went with a friend Paul my IT guru wanted to sort out his Visa so we ended up in Nakkers that sorted off we went to eat and he wanted to try the Pizza place above 7/11 if only to black my nose in we go, and must admit it wasn't half bad. I ordered a Noodle dish with sea food as that 'noodles' seems according to Dave to be a speciality in N/S and Paul a chicken dish 2 min: later back come's the waiter (with a bit of a strange hair style) who I must add was very nice and said sorry you cant have the noodle dish as we don't have any Mushrooms.

Now let me see no Liver and now no mushrooms what is this place N/S coming to I ask myself, ended up with a pork soup and some egg fried rice and must say it was very pleasant, oh and good coffee. Just one thing they didn't have any fish sauce with chillies so ended up with Tabasco not quite the same but it was Ok.

We then decided to sit outside on the balcony if only to watch the young peeps as they sauntered around the Uni.

Got talking to a chap Peter from Blighty and he told us of a place near the Nong Song Boon Park other side to the Walk that sell's English food of sorts pies gammon etc H/M is lead to believe that it only opens in the evening.

It's in the Spipina apartment and its called Confuzion Pub and Restaurant with a name like Confuzion should be just the place for you lot down in Nakkers.

I can see as I tap David rushing along if only to meet peeps of his same Elk. An update on same if anyone has been but what ever its got to be one up on a Big Mick with a crap bun.

He also told us of a Steak place sorry the name has slipped my mind I think it's got something to do with numbers but it does seem a trite pricy 500bt for a mid sized imported fillet, then again each to his own.

Just phoned my IT man and he think's the Steak restaurant is called 456. Update on that as well it anyone knows.

I would be interested in the pie shop if it is open at lunchtime as I will be taking my quarter yearly trot to immigration next month for the 90 day report and to see how the flatlanders are surviving the flood waters.

Phone No: for above restaurant Confuzion is 0818868664 give them a call and see what times they open.

You might even see several confused dribbling peeps in there.

If you see one with a label round his neck saying answers to the of Dave like's to eat Noodles, That's without Mushrooms or Liver if found please return to the funny farm, I suggest you leave well alone.

Oh and they sell shorts by the nip and not bottle, sadly only Thai beer though.

Good job that H/M went, I was only there for less that an hour and a half and I/We found several place of interest to eat.

Peeps that live there full time seem to know bugger all, not let out much I suppose.

You went to the pizza place and didn't at least ask about the "brown" sauce served with the fish! Must have a memory like mine. I've locked it into my small memory bank to ask if I ever go there and most likely will forget to order anything to eat until I get back in the car and realize that I'm still hungry.

It was the usual brown stuff that's sold here OK or some such thing they had it all over the counter.

H/M by the way has Daddies brown sauce imported of cause much more upmarket. You colonist will have to Google that.

I did put in Quite a large post referring to the major things but if you would like more here go's.

The traffic was not as bad as normal that was once you got past the cop's that were stopping everyone trying to enter the place, that was by the first Tesco on the left you get to coming from up north (A much better place to live Allegedly) Most of the lorries seem to be using the Bypass and coming through the town that way I think is because they don't want to spend several hour's trying to get over the half opened bridge or should that be bridges.

The visa place wasn't busy only a handful of peeps nothing like the last time H/M was there. And their toilets were the normal smelly rubbish.

Roads were the usual crap both down to Nakkers and out of it, pot holes everywhere.

Oh and the clock outside Big C is now about 20 minutes wrong and not the normal 10 or so.

Also contrary to Dave's bit about they are charging peep from up north extra to get into the Walk and such places they were almost empty 'I only assume that as their car park was empty' they would have been glad of anyone if you ask me.

Will H/M and clan be going there in the near future not on your life.

But will have to venture that way sometime in February for my Visa. That's if I cant get round that some way.

One of my clocks has gone on the blink running at twice it's speed have had to purchase another at 299bt that so far is going OK.

Had to eat some of Mrs H/M food today H/M is still fine you'll be glad to hear. Also orf to a local restaurant Friday night for a Birthday party. Other than that all's going swimmingly.

The last bit is just a bit of trivia I thought you mob might be interested in.

N/B Nothing wrong with H/M memory. Must admit I didn't pay to much attention when Peter told me about the 456 restaurant I was to busy looking at the young ladies coming out of the Uni opposite the pizza place. But that's another story.

Anything else don't hesitate to ask.

I only know what I'm told by David not that he's very forward in coming forward, he reported that the bridge has been close for some time, then a couple of weeks ago that it was half open with cranes on the other half. So H/M steered well clear of the place came in from up north and turned right to the visa place out the same way.

But it doesn't alter the fact that lot's of lorries were coming up the bypass and turning right to go through the town that way, once they have found out all is open again it'll be back to yet more thundering lorries and humungous amounts of diesel fumes. Enjoy.

Back from a couple of days in Changers, hot (37 deg C) and dry. No signs of anything resembling a flood. BIB were more active than usual checking licenses and actually assisting with the traffic flow in the city. Tourist composition seemed to be 50% Chinese and 50% Farang which is a significant change from my last visit there.

Road was generally better than the Kippers to Nakkers stretch but still somewhat variable. Its apparently mushroom season in the jungle so from Tak to Lampang there are many roadside mushroom stalls . Some of the mushrooms we bought look a bit like toadstools to me but seeing as I generally eat after the family here has finished I should be able to take evasive action if required.

We ended up bringing back a quantity of Chiangmai sausage purchased from the market there, I've had various versions of the stuff before but this is about the best-very tasty. I'm not sure what is in it but, a long time ago I spent a day working in the sausage department of a meat works so I know better than to ask.

Back home the electricity was still functioning and the dogs remembered me so no complaints this time.

After reading the first line, Changers, I thought that you took a vacation in the brewery on AH1! Why do you guys always have to abbreviate things? Chiangmai is only 1 more letter!

It wouldn't be poetic though-Changers, Bangers, Kippers, Nakkers all sort of rhyme. Plus it is easier to type-e,r,s all up the same end of the keyboard.

Are you having one of your bad days again Wayne???

I think it's done so the non Oxford English speakers can understand.

Talking of changing things I was looking at my TV the other day and there was an American food/cooking program on. They were cooking noodles well that's what they referred to them as, I can see Dave's ears poking up, with wait for it a peanut butter sauce with honey and butter lashing of same heated in a microwave to soften then doctored to make it Eastern so they said by adding soy sauce and a few chillies. Delish I've no doubt.

Then they got round to cooking the noodles and what did it turn out to be well spaghetti. How long I would like to ask has Spaghetti been called noodles.

Many areas of the US call any form of pasta "noodles", be it spaghetti, Linguini, macaroni or other varieties. It's just an American thing just like abbreviating everything, sometimes with longer words, is a Brit and Oz thing.

Well the cranes are off the bridge and the southbound road is now fully open, residents of KPP are still required to use the by-passwai2.gif . They have left something in the river to the west of the bridge which look like supports, maybe another lane at some time in the future, but, not this year.

I was thinking driving down to Nakkers from the Tak Road, you will probably have noticed as well, Nakkers very own Eyeful Tower, yes we gone a la continental, just like gay Paree with many people walking around in Berets and eating croissants and walking along with a baggette under the arm, why you almost be in la Bel Francais when you stroll along the Boulevard that runs along the river ( now called Prayuth Boulevard ). All we need now are some hooped tea shirts and a few more bushbikes full of onions. Aurevoir mon ami.

Bit late Dave H/M was told off the other day by Davyboy and that all the bridges were now open and I should have up to date info.

What's all this you have your own Eiffel tower and it can be seen allegedly from the 1 traveling into Nakkers.

How can I or anyone come to that look out for a Tower when one would be to busy looking out for very large pot hole's.

Now it seems that you lot have all gone French, baguettes indeed you'll be lucky if you can find one of those sweet white sliced loafs there. Don't tell me liver and mushrooms have reared their ugly heads as well.

I see by your post time that you wasn't looking at your team Arse-en-all and Man C playing very good game it was to worth at least 2 months of my CTH cost. Oh the result was a draw 2/2. Later I watched Lei play Stk and Lei won 1/0 Just waiting for the Liverpool kick off now.

Don't worry we shall still be using the bypass. Onions berets indeed.

The French contingent are the ones trying to drive on the right, cant miss them, well do try. 805 and 1805 we now have the Marsaillaise piped over the city, the culmination of the French week will be La chef a la noodles des Bretange, followed Moulles Marinaire with noodles, tarte de pomme with no noodles ( unless you ask for them) everything is priced in French bhts, copies of Le Monde available from Se - Ed.

The Gunners were robbed as usual! It was on channel 3 analogue, same result as on Thai Sat 2-2.

When were just a wee lad in Poole we used the get the Johnny onion man come around on his push bike from France by ferry flogging strings of onions. (Reet tasty they were too).

I don't remember them dressed in berets and hooped T-shirts but it was a long time ago. I do remember that their push bike were left hand drive though.

Hi guys, anyone know where to get full colour copies done in NS?

Hi guys, anyone know where to get full colour copies done in NS?

(Sorry Nong if I stole your thunder re- the bridge!!!)

Dont worry about that, I'm more concerned about that Hunting fraternity bring ing all their smelly dogs down here and fowling the footpaths and the bridges!!

My so called smelly dog Nasher pointed out an intruder in our pond today, to-wit 4 foot snake it was after the frogs that abound I wasn't to displeased as they hadn't paid last months rent. But it had got one of my fish and had carted it up the garden and left it out to dry. That was the last straw H/M to the rescue. It had to be dealt with big time.

So this evening armed with my trusty rechargeable torch mask and my 38 Smith & Western, well a crappy BB gun + the sounds of the William tell overture pulsating in the background, H/M (here in after to be known as The Lone Ranger) went to deal with same.

The first several shot's missed, well the bloody thing was at least 2mt away then Tonto (Mr's H/M) arrived and held the touch enabling Kemo Sabe to hold the mighty 38 in both hands. Eventually I got it slap bang in-between the eyes, did it die well no but it did scamper about like a demented hooker who hadn't been paid for the previous nights pleasure.

A few minutes passed well maybe an hour and I managed to get the thing several more times eventually after it had tried to climb the waterfall I got it bang to rights, and it is now at the bottom of the pool upside down and lifeless not a titter for well over an hour. That will teach it for invading H/M mansions.

Tomorrow I will allow Tonto to fish it out and if she's good she can have it for supper.

The moral of this story is if any of you N/S peeps try to sneak into K.P.P without a valid visa 'don't try the I'm selling onions ploy Dave' beware.

I would have lent you my Davey Crockett hat, bowie knife and musket and you would have gotten it on the first shot, however my musket has been trained to go after Indians and Tonto could have been in trouble, or visa versa. I'm sure that the Work Permit Brigade will be along soon since you were obviously working without a permit and hunting without a license.

Fred,

if you've get the hang of serpent wrangling you might like to try the one below-a 3 metre+ brown snake on a four wheel drive bush track in the south of Western Australia.

Highly poisonous and large quantities of venom, I generally don't mind snakes but I gave this one a wide berth.

Thanks for the offer but with my lone ranger outfit + a Davey Crockett set up I think it might have been a bit of an over kill.

Then there's the smoke that comes out of a flint lock when it's fired, Ok if your in N/S but with our clean air here I would have been in trouble with the green mob.

Tonto aka Mr's H/M used to work on the stage one of her trick's was to catch a bullet in her teeth allegedly. Has had a few mishaps hence she now resembles Jaws out of the James Bond films.

I could have let her loose on a one to one set up with the snake but she cant swim, perfectly ok in the out back so Bill's snake would have been dealt with in a few seconds. You can borrow her if your ever taking that trip again Bill.

Hope to catch up with you before you go back to Aus Bill, but if not have a good trip see you in the new year.

We were in Makro today and bumped into a colonist friend of mine after speaking to him for several minutes and discussing the nicety's of chicken feet we went on our way. Only to come up behind him in the car park I slowed to say good by. When Mr's H/M said he seems a very nice man he German or English??? I then stopped by his car and said the wife want's to know if your one of the above after he stopped laughing he replied in a broad accent I'm American and I'm from Texas.

There you are then no wonder Colonists can get a Thai wife it's because they think they are English.

Or could it be German???

Many areas of the US call any form of pasta "noodles", be it spaghetti, Linguini, macaroni or other varieties. It's just an American thing just like abbreviating everything, sometimes with longer words, is a Brit and Oz thing.

Usually derived from ex-cricketers who call each other by these shortened names, a sort of endearment to show some soort of respect.

Dont go down the Cockney Road or Fred will get all sentimental and claim he is a pearly Queen.

River still high in the Metropolis but no flooding round here, just damn hot!

Went under the bridge today and it looks very much to me that they have been putting in stancheons in the river to take a 3rd lane southbound between the old bridge and the new one, may be in the offing next year, no sign of the same on the northbound apart from the supports that have been there for some time.

Bunting out in the city, I suspect another Noodle Love in shortly, chicken blood, feet optional.

All your water must be coming from rivers other than the Ping as here it's large sand banks.

The bunting is being got ready for H/M visit Allegedly I shall be using the Bypass on the 6th on my way to BKK.
