First Car Govt Rebate For A Thai Person

Featured Replies

How is this rebate calculated, is it a percentage of the purchase price if so

what percentage is it and how long will it be available

I have already asked in the motor forum but had no response

We have just got a new nissan march and will be getting back 65,000b in the next few months, the government are only doing this rebait till next november,so be quick.

It does not tell you how to calculate the rebate

Under the programme, buyers will receive a refund of excise taxes paid on the car after purchase, up to a limit of 100,000 baht. Buyers may not sell or transfer title to the car for a period of five years, or they will have to refund the rebate.

there must be some formula which allows you to calculate the rebate

Ford wildtrak 2wd 900000 baht

There probably is some kind of formula, but that will depend on the amount of tax paid. Much easier is to look up the amount on the website dedicated to this, check in the thread 'best pickup', I think I found the whole overview there. KBB gave it if my memory serves me right.

I thought the car had to be under 1.6L engine size to get the tax back!as my friend found out after buying a fiesta for his gf and it was a 1.8L!

Fiesta is not part of the rebate scheme, also 1.6 liter not. See the list in the link.

Just what we need - an incentive for people to put more cars on the road when the current infrastructure is already overtaxed. Imagine the situation if all motorbikes were replaced overnight by cars. Thankfully, it will not happen overnight, but...

E: Typo

Applies to foreigners as well at same rates

No.

I dont think farangs can have the same deal as this!only thai.

Sure farang can have the same deal, provided they have the Thai nationality.

Peter bought a pick up, so the link given in post # 11 is applicable. This link is for sedans.

oops didn't see the wildtrak post when viewed on my tablet - so just posted helpful information - still you never know who may gain something useful from a positive/informative post.
