Using Local Call Number (Uk) And Roaming (Worldwide)

Featured Replies

I know of this service ,but does anyone actually use it? Presumably the organisation responsible for the service allocates a local call number from an area of your choice, then anyone calling it presumes the call is received in that area, and the call rates are local too I believe.Would be good for roaming for one I imagine just register with whatever sim is in the 'phone.

Is reception OK,etc?any problems ?

I am using a similar VOIP Carrier from Australia and it rings on my PC in Thailand or I could forward to my Thai mobile. Perfect quality better than a normal phone call. Skype have a similar service for local numbers in UK, USA, Australia etc that rings on you Skype on PC or you could forward to mobile. There are many other service like this some seem very over priced so compare offers but it works very well.

I have a Birmingham, UK number from Skype so anybody phoning me from the UK just pays the local rate. It comes through to my laptop at home plus, because I've put the Skype app on my mobile it automatically comes through to that as well, without having to pay for any call forwarding.

Call quality is always very good, although I'm not sure if I've actually received a call when I've been out in the sticks and/or only got an edge+ internet connection on my mobile. I'll try it next time I go to the village.
