Yes Ill explain, find a decent Thai woman/man buy a few condos and rent them out using the wife/husband to run it, Cheap units will do for partner to gain experience, network a bit ( I hate that word) meet other owners, gain their trust ( hard in Thailand) let them ask your wife/husband to take care of their rooms, then start letting other owners rooms, result after 6 years is salary of approximately 250k a month for wife/partner of which 50 k is her own rented rooms the rest commissions approximately 130+k a month and salary from other owners approximately 70+k a month.

Thats how to make money, You actually do nothing as 1. its probably illegal and 2, who wanst to work anyways.

The hardest part is finding the correct partner one who is honest, willing to work hard, and loves you, same anywhere really.

Well that's what worked for me.

Great idea - please could you post the contact details for the aforementioned condo block owners?

do you need a work permit to buy and sell property for profit ? is it actually classed as work if i buy 3 condos, jazz them up a bit and then sell them next year on a higher price ?

I don't know. Does this all require any effort on your part? Do they spontaneously jazz up by themselves?

buying property usually requires some effort wink.png

but if its your own condo would you be alowed to paint ,decorate and make general improvments without a work permit ? even if

such improvements enabled the condo to be sold at a higher price ?

is it illegal to decorate your own property without a permit ? smile.png

I don't know. However, if there is more than one apartment in your possession at the same time, it may be difficult to justify that they were both / all home improvements. Anyway, as I always say - if its that important, pay for advice from a professional, rather than accepting gossip from anonymous strangers.

SC

But talking to as many people as you can before seeking professional help will in most cases reduce the number of questions and therefore the cost of help. The first 20 minutes or so are usually free so producing a salient presentation is a must. I am not a lawyer (anywhere), but have been using them almost constantly for over 20 years.

Silly question: Can I buy 3 houses and sell them at a profit?

Answer: Yes

Good question: I want to buy 3 houses, renovate them and then sell them at a profit. As a falang on x visa, will I be subject to capital gains tax or any other such tax if I am able?

Answer?

No idea myself but would be good to find out. Find out as much as anyone can in Thailand where nothing could be even close to being certain.

Sure, but that holds true in any country. A fool and his money......

However, most other countries haven't developed a major full-fledged industry around that fact, complete with tens of thousands of teenage apprentice PT Barnum hotties coming up from the rice farms every year.

So...do you actually know of anybody that has lost any legal possessions due to being deported from Thailand...as that was what was being suggested earlier in the thread and why I made my comments in the first place?

If anybody is stupid enough to give their money to young prostitutes, that's their problem. It's hardly a reason for the rest of us to live by the maxim: Never invest more in Thailand than you can afford to lose. That is a sensible rule for anybody investing in anything, anywhere in the world, not just here. Conmen exist in every country by the way, maybe you haven't spent much time anywhere else?

Sorry I didn't realize the parameters were so specific. Deportation isn't a factor at all in my book, just a temporary paperwork issue.

And "legal" possession? I assume you're trying to put the blame on the victim when lawyers and complicit officials work together to convince people they can retain effective ownership though actually illegal nominee schemes?

I call that being scammed, and do my best to warn people that the risk of losing control of what-is-not-actually-their-property-anymore is higher than they may think.

Of course once people have lived here for a while, done their research etc and are aware of all the pitfalls, they are better equipped to protect their interests.

I have lived in many countries over 50 years, most of my life outside the US now, and nowhere have I experienced such systematic scamming by ordinary people. And yes, beautiful young girls trying to get their hands on farang money by hook or crook are ordinary here, and many newcomers are susceptible.

Thailand is a wonderful place, but only when you know what the game is and how to play it, and adjust your expectations accordingly. Giving them your money isn't stupid, as long as you are getting good value in return, and realize you're actually giving it to them. Don't put down up-front deposits expecting people to keep their promises, and even if you play along with the fiction that you are "investing" in something, accepting in your heart that it's a true gift will give you much better peace of mind.

I'm not suggesting everyone live by that maxim; however I will continue to warn people that IMO are displaying a degree of naïveté that puts them at risk.

There must be a number of experts out there in fields such as law, plumbing, electricians, gardners, IT, cars etc.

ask an expert on line, is one way perhaps which might work for those people who want to earn a little extra.

You register your skills, people email you, a quote is given for advice, they accept or reject and then you advise and hey presto money in the bank.

I have used the service before happy with it.

Might be a way for some of the older members to supplement their income.

Yes it might be classed as work, but it is all via the web,

Just a thought

Surely you're not surprised. The only thing I'm surprised at is that it hasn't turned into "its the Thais fault" topic yet.
