Connecting Flight - Peak Time Arrvial

Featured Replies

Hi,

I will be arriving at 15.05 on Thursday 5th April from LHR. I have a 18:00 flight with Bangkok Airways to Samui. Usually when I do this trip, we actually clear customs get our bags have a drink and something to eat and then go an check in at domestic. However, I am concerned re the long queues at immigration from reading this site. I am concerned about missing the samui connection. Would it be better to just check the bags all the way through to Samui and go a a transfer? Has anyone does this before? If I take this route I'm then worried about the bags ending up somewhere other than Samui (or just going round the belt in the customs hall).

Would welcome your thoughts?

Thanks

Are you on one ticket or two tickets? What carrier are you using for LHR-BKK?

PG (Bangkok Airways) has interline agreements with many carriers so it may be possible for you to check your bags through at LHR to USM (Koh Samui), and clear mid-field Immigration at Suvarnabhumi (BKK) Airport, then pick up your bags at USM and clear Customs there.

Even if it is two separate tickets just be sure to show the PG ticket details checking in at LHR where agents will be able to link the two records and check bags through to USM.

I think it would be much easier to check your bags through, if you can. If you cannot, or choose not to, you will have no problem making a 3 hours connection even after clearing arriving Immigration, claiming your bags, heading up to level 4, checking in with PG. For domestic flights ex-BKK there is just a shortish security line.
