Bars and entertainment venues will be closed nationwide April 8-10. See article http://www.thaivisa....ral-april-8-10/
Plus on Phuket because of local elections on 6 April 6 PM till 7 April midnight no alcohol is allowed to be sold.

Just curious as to where the elections are. I knew there were elections in some areas last Saturday.

Or put some beers in the fridge beforehand.

To the OP I'm sure the whole tourist bar industry wont close down for the period. You'll find somewhere to go.

According to one of the BiB from Kathu, bar closing won't be enforced for the 8th, 9th and 10th. Not surprising, since I cannot recall any time where entertainment venues have been closed for (virtually) five days running. All the same, I wouldn't count on the policeman's advice being correct at this early stage...

Some bars will indeed close 8-10 and staff are taking it as a chance to go home to visit as they have to work Songkran.

I think it will be very quiet in the next week.

I guarantee though Bangla will be open for business.
