Hi Guys

Just moved to Ubon permanently from Blighty.

Driven my old Lexus from Bangkok to Ubon and have got a couple of problems that need to be sorted out by a mechanic.

Could anyone please advise me if they know anyone who is a Lexus/Toyota mechanic in Ubon who can help.

Many Thanks

Hmmmm, think your asking a bit much. Your ride is ''high'' tech for the basic mechanic, but Diyaam Toyota is the number one here.

It's an 1995 model !.

If it was more modern I would understand.

It's only a central locking motor that is a bit 'lazy'.

I had some wombat look at it and when the muppet reached for his screwdrivers I could tell he had never seen a Lexus in his life.

I quickly said 'no thanks' and scooted out rapidly.

And this service came from what was advised as a good garage in the centre of Ubon !.

I could not believe it.

It's all a gamble but Diyaam is the number one in Ubon.

Just a follow up to this sorry tale !.

I got a service appointment with Toyota Deeyiam quite quickly after posting the the message.

I booked the car in early ( just to make sure).

6 hours later they had finally got the car door panel off the car !.

2 housr later they advised me that the central door lock actuator was worn out and they would need to replace it with a new one which would have to be ordered ffom Japan.

I was advised this would take between 3 to 4 months.

I was then handed an invoice for 10000 Baht which after a little 'shouting' on my behalf suddenly became 340.00 Baht.

Last week I contacted Toyota Deeyiam only to be told that the part had still not arrived.

So plan B now put into action.

First I contacted Lexus Bangkok with the correct part number ( there were 4 for that year ) and got the part in 3 days ( from Japan ) at a cost of only 2330 Baht, half of what Deeyiam would charge !.

Finally my tools arrived from England and as a Mechanic with over 35 years experience fitted the part in less than 30 minutes.

I have now decided that the mechanics here are the worst I have ever encountered and to that end I will be setting up my own shop in the next few months after I have finished building our house.

A truly 'eye opening' experience !!.
