Please help me identify this fellow, he scared the life out of us and i really didnt want to harm him but we were unsure if that is a stinger coming out his bottom!

Cicada is very different

OP, What you think is a sting is the ovipositor of a female. Harmless in crickets.

I used to go out every night when i stayed in Isan and catch these and then get them cooked up with some baby sweetcorn and sticky rice.

They taste really good.
