December 21, 200520 yr I came to Thailand several years ago and married in Bangkok. Shes in the US now and we got a divorce there. I live in Thailand now and heard that she has to be here for me to get a divorce here. Then someone told me if i have my divorce papers I'm free to get married again here in Thailand if I want. Anyone know the law. I have my divorce papers from the courts in the USA.

Veritas <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Not strictly true, but in the case of USA and Thailand there are reciprocal agreements regarding marriage and divorce. There are some countries where laws allow polygamy, divorce by agreement (not formal), etc. that are not universally accepted.
December 22, 200520 yr Have you tried asking the embassy about this? the US embassy has an American Citizens Services that you must go through to get married so perhaps they can give you some direction for the divorce.
December 24, 200520 yr In my recent experience - as a British citizen - it was accepted if you have a translation and the origional of your divorce certif. No problem.
