Just in case anyone is in the process of looking for a gym membership, this may be of interest to you. I have heard horror stories of people buying "lifetime" gym memberships and then it turns out the "lifetime" was the lifetime of the business

No links to Bangkok Post allowed Forum rules.

Another wanabe moderator , this news from what ever source , is worth seeing and very useful to many forum members here .

Then do not supply the link directly, say it was in the other paper. The rule is there for a reason.

I read the above mentioned newspaper everyday, and if I see a story worth putting here then I do it saying it is from "the other paper".

Apparently the rule is there, and was demanded to be there by the Bangkok Post itself. I can't seem to edit the post to remove the link or re-write it.

You cannot edit it, only a mod can now.

That statement makes no sense... Of course its for the lifetime of the business. If no gym exists for you to go to where would you like your membership to work. If anyone is surprised that your 300$ membership isnt going to last you the next 30 years is delirious, a business with a model even close to that can never last. Its extremely rare to find a lifetime member ship even being offered at gyms and when it is your basically paying upfront for 10-20years upfront then free after that.

California Wow In Bankruptcy Court

That explains why I'm seeing some Fitness First related threads in the past 2-3 days.

Exactly right. I can't believe people are even bothering to mention it. You'd have to be mentally retarded to expect a gym membership to last past the life of gym.

I did take out a lifetime membership at California Wow. It was a calculated risk and I've done well at 3 years so far.
