I bought my wife a new Sport Ultimate Fiesta. Fantastic little car but it doesn't have the button to put the auto transmission in neutral. It has a little cover you can remove then push down with the key to release.

Has anyone seen an after market button made to fit in the hole?

Technically it is not an auto box in the old accepted sense.

it is two parallel manual boxes operated automatically. When stopped at the lights the clutches will be engaged to keep the vehicle stationary unless you are on a hill when it has "roll-back" and maybe even "creep" The neutral button maybe for

towing should the car need to be towed back to the dealer ship for repair.

If there was a button what does the owners manual say about getting it out of

neutral after disengagement?

I am only familiar with VW DSG and that has a "conventional" PRNDL shifter but

the L has been repalced with S for sport ie. manual shifting.

Well tried to edit the above but

Just like the DSG the Fiesta has a "conventional" PRNDL configuration.

Are you talking about the shift release whereby you need to put your foot on the brake pedal to shift out of park.

If so I think RTFM applies here and I'll go back into my hole.

You will find he's talking about the button you can press when the engine is off, you press and put the leaver in neutral then can push around the car park.

Yes the button to move the shifter with the engine off. I'm looking for an after market button that fits in the hole where you can push the release with the key.

If parking at the mall for instance in the middle of the aisle wouldn't one simply put the transmission in neutral before walking away? Or turn on the ignition put ones foot on the brake and shift to neutral?

Again I'm a Ford ignoramus.

Some cars, like my Civic, you can not remove the key from the ignition unless in Park. It has a slot where you put the key in and press down to release the gear allowing it to be put in Neutral.

What's the problem with using it the way it was designed?

The slot to put the key in that releases the shifter isn't attractive. I would prefer it had a push button release similar to my Fortuner.

It's a bit basic but when we brought our Fiesta the guy gave us a paperclip to push in the slot.

I have not needed to use it yet, but I keep it handywink.png
