Jatuporn 'forgives' Chalong as the two reconcile

The Nation

BANGKOK: -- Pheu Thai party-list MP Apiwan Wiriyachai confirmed yesterday that the conflict between his fellow MPs Jatuporn Promphan and Chalong Raewrang had been settled.

Tension between the two arose after Chalong said last week that appointing Jatuporn - a core red-shirt leader - to the Cabinet would be unfair to MPs from the Central region. He also mentioned the lese majeste charges that Jatuporn faced.

Chalong also said that Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra might feel uneasy about having to explain why she appointed a man who was involved in the 2010 unrest and the "burning of the city".

Jatuporn responded by saying that he forgave Chalong, adding that his red-shirt supporters were rallying against Chalong because they were his (Jatuporn's) true friends.

Apiwan, who is also a key red-shirt leader, said he helped ease tensions between the two by telling Chalong that the Cabinet seats were not being used as rewards for any particular group, and that the reshuffle was entirely up to the premier. He also said that he backed Chalong's support for party-list MP and former commerce minister Mingkwan Sangsuwan because he was a capable man.

Asked if senior members of the party had encouraged the reconciliation, Jatuporn said there were no points of contention now that the Department of Special Investigation had dropped the lese majeste charge against him.

On Thursday, the DSI announced that the video clip used as evidence against Jatuporn was distorted and insufficient to press lese majeste charges against him. The MP said that though the DSI planned to hand the case over to the Office of the Attorney-General, he was not worried because once it is proved that the clip was doctored, the case would be over.

Meanwhile, about a hundred red-shirt supporters from Nonthaburi province gathered outside Parliament yesterday to demand that Chalong resign as Nonthaburi MP. They said they were upset by his allegations that the reds were responsible for "burning" the city, especially since they were the ones who had cast their ballots to elect him as MP.

Note to Chalong - don't tell the truth about some of the people who voted for you.

Abject apology required, hint at possible spontaneous combustion, and that video clips were edited. OR deny having said any such thing, misconceptions by listeners, video clips were edited.

Note 2 - although denial will be an obvious lie, being able to do so with a straight face is a desirable ability in a PTP candidate. As a training exercise, watch Jatuporn claim he never said "royally-bestowed bullets".

This is a touching story. Kiss and make up.

The barking dogs are quiet again.................for the time being...........until the next bone is discovered..

100 red shirts appear outside parliament tp protest because their local MP made an accurate statement. What will happen when they finally convict the mongrel?

Tharit has decided that the video is distorted/doctored - does this mean unclear or falsified? Has Jatuporn previously denied making the statement (as you would if it was untrue) ? Have they sought witness testimony from the thousands reportedly attending?

Yes Don, I know Jatuporn filed a libel charge. Which is a denial of any offence, not that he refuted making the statement.

Kind of like watching the three stooges on a wider back ground.

Main difference being these clowns get a heck of a lot more money. Some of it from legal sources.

And their is actually some of there audience that believes in them.

One Red Shirt Leader vouches for another Red Shirt Leader.

Meanwhile, because the LM case has been resolved

Chalong said last week that appointing Jatuporn - a core red-shirt leader - to the Cabinet would be unfair to MPs from the Central region. He also mentioned the lese majeste charges that Jatuporn faced.

Chalong is ok with Jauporn being made a Cabinet Minister, but Chalong must have forgotten his other point for opposing Jatuporn's appointment...

Chalong also said that Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra might feel uneasy about having to explain why she appointed a man who was involved in the 2010 unrest and the "burning of the city".

and the associated terrorism charges that are not resolved.

But I can certainly empathize with his rational fear of Red Shirt reprisals against him and thus is caving in to reconcile with Jatuporn.

Doesn't this kind of remind you of former President Bill Clinton and his famous statements. "I didn't have sex with that woman" and "define sex".?

Bill Clinton only had problems with his zippergate.

I absolutely love the redshirt mentality shown in this article:

"We voted you, so you should protect our crimes."

"Sorry, there's no place for you, because you're not a redshirt."

"We're dropping the case.. Because he's a redshirt and we're a redshirt government."

Thailand dic-- err.. Democracy at its best.

More like Dictatorcracy.
