Sondhi returns to Lumpini stage

Sondhi

Bangkok:-- Yellow-shirt leader Sondhi Limthongkul made a return to the movement yesterday by holding a special version of his popular 'Thailand Weekly' TV show.

He gave a speech on "Reforming Thailand and unveiling dirty politics" during an event by the People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD) at Lumpini Park. Thousands of yellow-shirt supporters attended.

Sondhi, who is a PAD co-leader, criticised the government and the opposition, as well as many public figures, including Army chief General Prayuth Chan-ocha and ousted Thai Airways president Piyasvasti Amranand.

He also credited the PAD for the government's refusal to support the campaign to amend Article 112 of the Penal Code, which concerns lese majeste offences. "The PAD serves as a wall to protect the monarchy. We seem to be doing the duty for the [recent] Army chiefs since 2005," Sondhi said, adding that recent Army chiefs were "good at talking and making threats, like politicians".

In late 2005, Sondhi started holding his weekly programme at Lumpini Park after it was taken off the air at state-run Channel 9. The weekly gatherings by Sondhi's supporters later grew to become the PAD and a movement against Thaksin that eventually led to a coup in September 2006.

PAD spokesman Panthep Puapongpan said yesterday that in regard to questions where Sondhi "disappeared to", the yellow-shirt leader had in fact continued doing his regular news analysis show on satellite-based ASTV.

Sondhi, criticised ......... ousted Thai Airways president Piyasvasti Amranand.

On the thread questioning discussing the termination of TG's president I pointed out that the BOD was not necessarily aligned with the government and that there other reasons for the BOD's decision. It is interesting that the man who is opposed to the government, piled on to the public rebuke of the former TG president. Curious, don't you think?

Hatred of corruption and thieves is not unusual in those endowed with the normal quotient of morals.

So you hate the fabric of Thai society then? (not the thieves bit)

Are you actually saying you support corruption?

Can't blame someone for playing the game by the rules

What? No pages upon pages of speculation about numbers attending? For the record according to the other paper about 3000 were there. Not sure how many were expected.................

No one said that 30,000 or 300,000 would attend, so what is there to speculate on?

Yes you can. Just because it's "by the rules" doesn't mean it's by the law.

Given that you actually support corruption, it doesn't surprise me with all the other crap and lies that you spout.

TS certainly didn't start corruption in Thailand and AV certainly didn't stop it.

That is no reason to support it.....

.........unless you're in on the deal.

Don't suppose the actual statements made by Khun Sondhi are up for discussion?

He called for a "Final Battle" before he resumes "private life" as he refers to it. (Is this a euphemism for a prison sentence?) Will the usual contingent that froths at the mouth over the alleged statements of speakers at Redshirt meetings have any comments? whistling.gif

The OP contains few statements alleged or otherwise to criticize. PAD supports LM laws - what's surprising about that?

"Final Battle"???? is he moving to Dubai?

You ask for people to offer opinions on something but then give very little of your own, besides the usual and tiresome frothing mouth comment that you ascribe to anyone who doesn't support the corrupt clowns that you do. Seems like none of you red cheerers are capable of posting anything these days without the obligatory "froth" mention. Was a group memo sent around or something?

PAD should have been disbanded long ago. Serves no purpose whatsoever other than to try and create further social division. Everyone outside of either camp, red or yellow, is just so tired of it all. Reconciliation begins the day these two groups cease to exist, and not a day before.

for "tired" read "bored shitless" of dumbed down color coding and lemming behavior

Just when everything is turning back to normal from many situations and events that happened in Thailand, Mr. Sondhi and the PADs have to return and start the rally again. Can you the Reds and PADs just stay in your holes and buried yourselves there for the sake of this country?

The fewer the better... The Yellows are just a narrow-minded and fanatical as the Reds.ermm.gif

Judging from your comments below regarding Thaksin, it seems you are only opposed to this sort of law bending and injustice because you feel Thaksin (sob sob) has been excluded from also enjoying it. You have the whole thing upside down.

Ammart do not go to jail in Thailand, the trial was a pig circus, and he should be allowed to appeal and stay on bail for the years and years like the other ammart do.

So no speculation was required.

Doesn't anyone know what happened to the police investigation into the assassination attempt on Sondhi. During the Abhisit administration the national police chief had to be removed because he was impeding the investigation and the man in charge of the investigation said he was only two weeks away from announcing some high level arrests. Then stony silence.

Because he signed a lease for Thaksins condo in Dubai. It shouldn't be long now before its vacant.

I think the background is relatively well known to the assasination attempt though as far as I know it has not been discussed much if at all in the print media.Unfortunately there's not much that can be covered in this forum. One reason the trail went quiet I suspect was because of who was clearly not involved (ie Thaksin - even Sondhi doesn't suggest this).

Agree, but the yellow rats are around, because no one has given RODINE to the red variety.
