Effectivness Of An Electric Fence

Hi,

today i did saw one of those electric fence for sale, but the only thing i could read on it was 12V DC 220V AC and then pictures of cattles all over the box, so, clearly one of those devices they use to keep their calves delimited to a particular area.

I am wondering if the "shock" coming out of it, would be enough to keep "humans" away from it, or if it's so weak that someone could actually grab the wires and just trespass it as a minor annoyance.

An alternative to this little device could be connecting the metal's spicky wires directly to my live ac wire or, repurpose my electrode's welding machine, obviously in this last 2 cases, the power would be switched on only when an intruder is trying to made his way in, by a little hand operated switch....any thoughts?
