Hello people,

Whats an average ball park fee for the following services at a Notary Public in Thailand or the region;

1) A copy of my passport page by the Notary Public with the notary stamp.

2) Attestation of my address in Thailand.

All for the aim so certain individuals can control certain matters in my home country.

Thanks for any help.

Believe the only official Notary service you will find in Thailand is that provided by various Embassies as it is not used here. Not sure about Cambodia or Laos.

There are offices in Pattaya with window signs advertising notarial services. Some but not all are lawyers' offices. From what I found all these places will certify copies of documents or witness signatures etc. The cost seems to vary from between 300 and 2500B, depending on how good your bargaining skills are and how big a rip-off the place is in the first place.

Another option for such certification may be a bank officer; an assistant manager in my Thai bank certified copies of several different documents for me for no charge at all and these were acceptable to a couple of UK banks for ID verification purposes. A couple of other UK banks insisted on certification by notary/lawyer and I had this done for 300B per copy at one of the above-mentioned offices. I had a signature witnessed at the same time for 500B.

In the end it boils down to what sort of certifier the organism requesting the documents will accept; some people have had certification done by Thai doctors for 100B each, or local policemen.

My lawyer is a judge in Suratthani and has a public notary registration number issued by Lawyers council of Thailand.

There is no official notary in Thailand, regulated by law. The lawyers council has a regulatuion under which some lawyer can offer public notary services. However, since this is not regulated by a law it can be challanged in a (foreign) court of law.

Bottom line is be careful what the notary is for.

In this post made in 2007, Sunbelt Asia quoted 300 Baht plus VAT for notarial services, ie the certification by a member of the Lawyers Council of Thailand and Notarial Services Attorney, and mentioned that for example "The USA Commercial Services in Bangkok will accept copies of USA passports from Americans that our notary lawyers have certified it to be a true copy." A specimen of a document subject to such notarial service – with signature, stamp and seal – is attached to this post.

uptou, if you are on a one-year extension of stay in Thailand, you can get an attestation of your address in Thailand by applying for it at your local immigration office with the "Application Form for Residence Certificate in Thailand"

Thanks for the help people.

I should have said that i've already done the notary thing in cambodia.

Number 1) was $25, and 2) was $50 . The stamp, seal, etc.

Was just looking for some comparison of fees for this sort of thing, and whats actually involved on their part.

Thanks again all.
