Danish Man Found Dead on Thai Beach

news Dennis Krog

KRABI: -- According to the Danish paper Ekstra Bladet, the body of a 46 year old Dane was found last week in the waters of Ton Sai beach in Krabi. An eccentric lifestyle makes foul play likely, and a close friend to the Dane dismisses any chance of suicide.

Allegedly the 46 the Dane, who has been identified as Johnny Henriksen has been supporting his Thai lifestyle smuggling rubies out of Greenland to Krabi, where he used the money originating from the smuggling to open a beach bar. In Krabi he also met and later got engaged to the ladyboy Kharn.

The story of Johnny smuggling rubies is supported by a source, who claims to be the childhood friend of Johnny Henriksen, and on the facebook of Johnny Henriksen he is also proudly showing of some rubies.

Problems in Paradise

Although newly engaged and apparently making money from rubies as well as owning a beach bar, life in Krabi was not without worries for Johnny Henriksen.

According to his childhood friend the Dane was beaten by other foreigners who wanted him to pay ‘protection money’ for his beach bar, which Johnny refused.

“He did not give in to pressure, which resulted in him being followed on his bike on the 12th of March. The chase resulted in an accident where Johnny broke his finger,” says the friend to Ekstra Bladet.

The life of Johnny Henriksen then ended as he was found on the beach on 30 May, but his friend is sure that there is no chance that the Dane committed suicide.

“He loved life way too much to do that,” says the friend.

Danish authorities have confirmed that a Danish citizen was found dead in Thailand on 30 May, and that they are ‘working’ on the case. Besides that they have no comments.

Clearly a job for Sarah Lund (although her jumper may not be appropriate wear for Krabi).

Without wishing to be overly presumptuous, putting smuggled, trophy rubies on your Facebook page does not sound like a good career move.

I hope the Thai Authorities are also working on it !!

Beach + Farang + protection money... Can't help myself and think about Rusians

So now a life of crime is called an "eccentric lifestyle"!

extorted by foreigners?

already sounds suspect...

R.I.P.

Clearly a job for Sarah Lund (although her jumper may not be appropriate wear for Krabi).

Or perhaps Miss Marple, wearing her lace-piped Victorian swimming trunk while Mr. Stringer carries out intensive investigations in local ladyboy bars.

In what way? Clearly a sleuth of your magnitude would have the case solved in no time. Good luck Sherlock.

This article is sooooo full of crap...coffee1.gif

So this apparently all took place on Phi Phi island? That is where Ton Sai Beach is.

Has anyone even notified the Thai Authorities ???? Found on May 30 and today is June 5???? Maybe when they take a break from helmet patrol . Have seen nothing reported about it , not even on Thai Visa/

Really, you can not help? can you help yourself to think its Thailand and its the localsrolleyes.gif

"...smuggling rubies out of Greenland to Krabi" sounds a bit "coals to Newcastle" to me, though I note that "More recently, large ruby deposits have been found under the receding ice shelf of Greenland." (Wikipedia)

Ton Sai is right next to Railey Beach near Ao Nang -- not on Phi Phi island.

Yes, I thought that interesting too.

This article is sooooo full of crap...coffee1.gif

Not really - the guy came from Greeland (The big - Danish - island cloose to the North Pole). Red rubbies from Greenland are valued very high. It is legal for the local population to collect the rubbies, but commercial export is illegal. The Danish article also mentioned, that Johnny Frode Peter Bo Henriksen dated (engaged) a ladyboy (katoy) in Krabi.

Where was this in the Thai press?

Or did a Danish journalist happen to be there on holiday? :D

Didn't know there was much ruby mining in Greenland.

What about the ladyboy angle? Rubies + bar = $$$$ = love = ???

Didn't know there was much ruby mining in Greenland.

Not much mining - the locals just collect them, when they find them. The ground cliff is some 3½ bio. years old and includes diamonds and red rubins.

What exactly does "I hope the Thai authorities are working on it" mean? How many murders get solved in LOS? The forensic capability is comparable to Ghana 20 years ago, according to well trained British experts who have worked with the Thai police. There is little to no money being spent on improving police skill, expertise, specialized equipment, etc. I think the police here are either so demoralized by the lack of support from the exceptionally weak and feeble form of central government, or they do not care, unless cash is involved. Either way, to expect that the Thai police will solve a crime, is a bit like expecting Santa Claus to visit, or like Thailand getting a shipment of wild salmon, or reasonably priced goat cheese.

Whilst the jury has not come back yet, is this any justification for being murdered?

. In Krabi he also met and later got engaged to the ladyboy Kharn.

Did he/she get some rubies as well? But I guess he/she wouldn't let him go swimming alone.......wai.gif
