You have to ask how a squad of professional footballers could have any respect for a manager who embarrasses himself like that. They should be asking him about the terrific backing he's received and how he's spent it, then perhaps he might realize why they didn't want to give him any more, but rather start improving the players he bought in. But apparently theres no rift with Woodward!!!! Yeah, right!! Oh and apparently, tactically they didn't lose!!! So reading between the lines Mourinho is saying his team might have lost but he didn't because he did everything right.................theres a surprise!!! In the first half United pushed forward well and the ball went from defence through the midfield to the frontline far quicker than it has in the past, with far fewer sideways passes, although probably more back passes than before! Shaw had a great game throughout the whole match and Valencia pushed forward much more effectively than he has in the past. Lingard buzzed around the place, sometimes effectively, and that about sums it up for United. On the downside..........Pogba was played in a more forward position, as this was supposedly more suited to his game, however he was ineffective throughout and one has to wonder about his future here. As I have said previously, Jones will always be susceptible to injury because of his style of last-ditch tackles, stretching and lunging, whereas although Smalling had some good aspects to his game, he was left exposed on a one-on-one situation with a nifty forward and that's never good for a defender. Lukako is going through a bad patch maybe needs to lay off the donuts, and the lack of real firepower up front showed again. Come January....... sell players and have a clear out, perhaps even sell Pogba for a mighty sum to a foreign club, bring in some exciting talent and also see what is available coming up through the ranks and give some of those guys a chance, and if they are not there, then look to the club to ensure that they are for the future. It was actually nice to see them having a go for a bit, but as soon as Spurs switched up a gear the space at the back was noticeable. The cautious, grinding out, seems his only way to win games now, I'm sure they didn't play like that at Chelsea in his first stint. Solid and deadly. He has got it very wrong in terms of recruitment and his management style is not suiting the team. I think he needs to exit as he's clearly lost both the dressing room and the boardroom and is now in outburst mode. Seriously need a plan B and Zidane without 1 minute of PL experience is not it.
