[Myanmar] Nld Issues Statement On Arakan Violence

The National League for Democracy and allied ethnic leaders issued a joint press release on Saturday to urge an end to violent attacks in Arakan State and call on the government to take quick action to resolve growing tensions there and protect public security in accordance with the rule of law. The move follows the latest escalation of violence in the state on Friday, when Muslims in Maungdaw and Buthidaung townships went on a rampage, killing at least seven Buddhists. The statement also calls on religious and social associations to cooperate peacefully.
