BangrakBob Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 Has anyone had any experience with a local GP/Doctor regarding skin cancer check, biopsy on a suspect skin spot?
Samui Coconut Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 For this I would go to Bangkok Samui Hospital........
sandgroper2 Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 Get to a dematologist,ASAP. I get about 30 ,solar keratosis, removed a year.Minor ones are treated with cream,Aldara, next step up, by dry ice,top of the line cancerous and pre cancerrous growths by surgery. A GP is not the answer. Ignore possible cancerous growths and you may die. Aveagoodday. P.S. I live in Pattaya and go to a top hospital here.
peachykeen Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 I'd go see the dermatologist. You can go to the doctor on the ring road near Tesco. Unfortunately, you're going to have to urge them to do the tests, though because it will be "no, that look fine, no worries"... They really do everything in their power not to have to do such a thing. If you have the opportunity, I'd recommend going to Bangkok and having it handled there.

Isnt there a dermatology dept in the hospital on samui?

BangrakBob Posted June 19, 2012 Author Posted June 19, 2012 Cheers guys I appreciate the input and help, it is not just a suspect mole or freckle it has become a small sore. I shall be off there tomorrow.
sandgroper2 Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 Cheers guys I appreciate the input and help, it is not just a suspect mole or freckle it has become a small sore. I shall be off there tomorrow. Today I had a bit of my ear cut off and about 30 bits of sundamage treated with dry ice. Dont take any chances, get things seen to. However, if you search the net you will find many pics of various skin abnormalaties, some harmless, some deadly. This can stop the worrying about harmless non cancerous blemishes. I know I sound contradictory, but, eg.A pimple is just a pimple.

A biopsy may not be required, i have had 40 years of treatment so I know a fair bit about this. What you have may be precancerous, therefore, easily removed with dryice, or laser,no biopsy required. All the best cobber. Let us know how it goes.

Ozzies who were in the military or employed by the commonwealth are covered by compensation for sun caused damage if they worked in the open,as i did. Does this apply to you?
Carlos Primeros Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 They to not have a dermatologist at any of the hospitals in Samui. Sorry, no have. We have asked them a few times already. Maybe you can try Dr. Ning, the lady doctor in Lamai. I think she is throat, ear and nose and skin specialist. Otherwise you have to go to Bangkok. Good luck, cheers, Carlos

I've spent the best part of 40 years in the sun, and i've not had one check up. Pretty sure I'll need more than the one i'm actually concerned about removed. It's one of those things. "I feel fine, why do i need a doctor" bloke syndrome. Re: below comment. did not serve my country, but did work in the open to pay taxes and a lot of water time in the sun too. I do have health insurance here though, so i'll head to the hospital tomorrow. Again guys thanks for input.

They will prob.say it was caused before you took out the insurance. 20 or more years ago.
