[Myanmar] Suu Kyi To Skip Opening Of Next Session Of Parliament

Burmese opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi will not attend the opening of Parliament on Wednesday to give herself time to recover from her just-ended two-week tour of Europe. “Daw Suu Kyi has asked for a leave of absence from Parliament which convenes on July 4. She plans to attend on July 9,†said Nyan Win, a spokesman for her National League for Democracy. Suu Kyi returned to Burma on Saturday, ending a five-nation tour that began on June 14. Early on in the trip, she showed signs of exhaustion after traveling outside of Asia for the first time in 24 years.
