Hi All,

Been offered a job on Koh Samui and currently on a ED visa which expires this week. I have been told that I can leave and come back with 30 day visa on arrival which can then be changed to a Non B visa at immigration in Surat Thani. The paperwork will not be ready in time as my visa expires on Monday.

Can anyone give me any idea if this is correct or not.

Thanks in advance.

If you are willing to pay bribes , yes.

On Samui, all get "ultimatum" to pay 5000 baht for a long term visa for 1 year extension of stay based on marriage or retirement.

If you have your paperwork in order it should cost you 1900 baht.

Samui immigrations is the most corrupt immigrations in Thailand.

In this case to make a non-B conversation visa I think Mr. Nut will charge you anything between 28.000 to 50.000 baht.

-----------Rant over------------------

The principle to convert a visa is that you can do it as long as you meet the requirements for one year extension of stay.

To get one year extension of stay based on employment you must have a work permit,.

Try get 7 day extension until your paperwork is in order for 1900 baht at immigrations.

Get the proper paperwork and get a 3 months non-B in Penang, Khota Bahru or KL.

Firefly flies Samui-Subang(KL) or minibus with herbert to Khota Bahru (office cross street immigrations in nathon)

in your case it is not possible, you need to have the WP already and you won't have it until you come back with a non-B visa from abroad.

Malaysia here you go :)

Sorry if this has been answered before!

Now I have a 1 year work permit issued in may 2012. I am on a single entry non-b visa, which will expire on 18th of August. Can I get a 1 year extension of stay in Samui? This would be a lot easier than going to Penang for a multi entry non-b. My company sorted all paperwork out for me for the single entry, if the extension is possible, what paperwork would I need?

Thanks
