Most people are able to obtain a single entry non immigrant B visa at one of the Consulates in the area with the proper paperwork (a real job offer that will supply a work permit).

I can not imagine why you would be here on a "transit" visa, and looking for work, however.

If you holding a tourist visa that issue by the embassy you can convert a tourist visa to non-b inside Thailand , it can take up about 21 days to 1 months for this process.

But you said that you hold a transit visa . So you must obtain non immigrant B visa at one of the Consulates.

A transit visa is normaly only requested to make connections between transport as it only provides a 30 day stay at maximum and many nationalities can recieve a 30 day stay with no visa at all.

TRANSIT VISA

1. REQUIREMENT

This type of visa will be issued to applicants who wish to enter the Kingdom for the following purposes :

- to travel in transit through the Kingdom in order to proceed to the country of destination or to re-enter his/her own country (category "TS")

- to participate in sports activities (sportsmen, sportswomen, etc.)(category "S") ***

- the person in charge or crew of a conveyance coming to a port, station or area in the Kingdom (category "C")

After reading all your posts I now find you are British and you were applying for a tourist visa in October of last year. So I suspect you are here on a tourist visa and not a "transit" visa.

He ain't the sharpest tool in the shed

Second the motion!

For a start, he will have to learn to use the shift key on his keyboard if he wants to get a job in Thailand.

lopburi3, while the consulates and embassies in Laos, Myanmar, and Cambodia just might be in the mood to issue a non-immigrant B to a UK citizen, isn't he more likely to have better luck in Malaysia?

No place is a sure bet as paperwork can and does change but believe most issue single entry without too much fuss if you appear legit. As you say, Malaysia is probably the best option.
