Also, what pricerange i am looking at for a 4 cylinder second hand Engine.Installed?

Just buy an invoice from one of the import companies. Also if you want an answer to that question state what make of car or engine. Personally I wouldn't bother. You can still tax an insure the car as is.

You make it sound so easy. Can you be more detailed.Advanced thanks.

Which part the insurance and tax? For that find yourself an inspection garage (normally yellow /blue sign with a gear cog) they can do it all for a small premium.

If its the invoice then not so easy. You have to find a 2nd hand engine company and ask.

The Car is insured and taxed.I dont worry about that.I just want my Name in the Book. You know of any 2hand Engine Companies here on Phuket or surrounding area?

The car is a Jeep with a Toyota Engine

Is yours a (CJ) Jeep (Wrangler)? What size and type of 4 cylinder Toyota engine is in it: auto/diesel?

Jeep parts won't be as easily or as cheap to come by in LOS as Toyota, Honda or Isuzu parts.

For all other readers, this is why it has been emphasized that the buyer go with the seller to the local Transport Office and make the financial transaction only after the transport officials have completed the transferring of your name into the Blue Book - they do vehicle inspections just prior to any transfer.

Its a manuel gasoline Toyota engine.Which works fine.Only heavy on Gas.I dont worry about parts.I need a invoice with the same number as in the book to transfer. There should be a way to deal with that problem.Maybe a 2 hand engine Supplier can assist me for a Fee.Just dont know any.

I don't know how these things work either, here in in LOS. If you only need to acquire an 'invoice', you should be home free - after you locate the right engine shop (or govt. dept). But with you having a 'different' engine than the original may 'complicate' the process.

It is going to be interesting to learn how this is resolved.

I recently bought a 2nd hand car from a guy who had, a few years earlier, replaced his original engine with a rebuilt one but the two engines were the same size and type plus it had all been documented in his Blue Book at time the work was completed.

Could you just get away with someone stamping the old number into the engine block. You will need to ask around not at govt office the local repair shop might know.

Thought about that too,But now they know the Car and the prob with the Engine Number.Would have worked before, maybe, but microchance now.

I would go to a work shop and explain the problem completely and honestly and try to get them issue an invoice for the engine you have in the car now.

Been to 3 diff Shops yesterday already with no success.I assume you need to know somebody in order to get help. Each Shop also told me it is not possible.Maybe because they did not know me.Really frustrating

Can't see any engine supplier giving you a invoice with a engine number unless they know it's not from a stolen vehicle, and if it is clean expect they will for their markup on selling a S/H engine.

You pinpointed the OP's dilemma in a nutshell.......

The car itself is clean.Transport office already checked. The chassis number is good.I could prove that if needed.Perhaps i can find a cheap 2 hand Engine with proper Papers.I never had anything here to do with a Car Shop.A good Shop should be able to help me.

personally i wouldn't bother. only problem you will have is not being able to take the car out of thailand

Since the OP has already purchased the vehicle, wouldn't he have to present a certifiable engine invoice in order to get the annual road/tax stickers so he can drive it?

With your circumstances, this is looking to be your best and only choice. Also, if you are looking to keep the Jeep, I recommend putting 'quality' before 'cost' when selecting a 2nd hand engine.

No, can do that without problems. The only need for the blue book is f he plans to sell it, or if the previous owner shows up again and claims it is his car. So why bother at all?

I really try to avoid spending Money on a Engine i only need for the Papers it comes with.Hope something better will come up.After all we are in Thailand where ''Options'' never cease to amaze me.I thought by now somebody here on Thaivisa had pointed me already in a direction with a reasonable solution.Still in hope. . . .dies last

I know i dont need to bother with it but if i buy something i would like my name on it.thats also the reason why i bought a Condo with my Name on the Title and not a House.it just feels right.

I think that you already been given the advise...find a legit shop and swap your engine for another one (I'd go with a diesel-will save you money in the long term)...it still gonna cost you,but may save you some BIG troubles later ....

In your situation, other than buying a 2nd hand engine, it is looking as though the only available "Options" will take you "to the other side", so to speak.

Thanks for the correction, I didn't know that. Then what all is needed to and what is the procedure for renewing the annual driver's sticker?

OK......I think you are realizing the seller may have pulled a fast on over on you and I feel for you but, it's really no loss financially because you can at least drive the Jeep as it is w/o having to spend any more money on a 2nd hand engine - but you will just 'pay' a little more for gasoline plus the car won't be in your name (no big deal)....at least the engine you have seems to be of good quality, so suck it up and don't worry about the need to 'have the car in your name'.

Otherwise you have to:

....which is excellent advise, too!

No not really. The inspection garage will inspect it. Take a small 'service ' charge and go and tax and insure it. Easy.
