I am going through a nightmare .

2 weeks ago visited the hospital to get an ingrowing toenail reloved but while I was there I thought Id ask the doctor to book me in for some physiotherapy. as I have had some minor lower back problems. I wasnt really suffering at that time and i thought while it is not playing up it would be the best time to treat it.

I was concerned that physio nurse/ doctor couldnt identify where i has my problem was on my back dispite most people I've come across in massage centers or yoga practices being able to clearly identify where my problem lay.

without checking she administered ultra sound. which I had to come back for a 2nd session. After the 1st session I actually felt Like it might have subtley imroved at 1st but I woke up the next day unually stiff.

I went for the 2nd treatment and explained that to the dr. / nurse . She administered ultra sound again. but this time it sent a weird pain into my spine.

That evening my back started to really play up and I have for the last 2 weeks been in sever. pain and very stiff. I have been poping strong pain killers like smarties and I am hobbling around like I'm 100 years old.

Can anyone give advise on what I can do? can I complain to the hospital and how.. and what can I claim for. I worry that I will just waste my time and that nothing will be offered to remedy the situation.

However times are changing in Thailand so maybe there is recourse.

For reference I am talking about Mission hospital in Phuket ( which I believe is part goverment part private, I could be wrong)

please help.

You will be wasting your time, don't bother.

there are VERY few cases where anyone got anywhere by complaining to/about a hospital in Thailand, and these tended to be very clear cut and egregious cases, which yours is not (there is no physiological mechanism I can think of whereby an ultrasound could have worsened your problem. Manipulation yes, but ultrasound, no...may just have been a coincidence).

And even in those egregious cases, best they got was refund of the fee paid.

You need to see a orthopedic specialist now, and in future always do that before seeing a physio. (Physio should have made you do that in fact....but if they only thing they did was administer ultrasound, they are not likely to have harmed you though clearly they did not help).

80% of all Medical law suits in Thailand lean in favour of the Plaintiff however in your case you do not have a case.

Sheryl is right, it's a waste of time however if you have time to waste then yes of course you can complain. Just like any hospital in the world, go to Admin and complain.
