[Myanmar] Violence Flares Up Again In Arakan State

Three people have been killed in the latest outbreak of violence in western Burma’s Arakan State, according to a government official cited by AFP. The new casualties of communal strife between ethnic Arakanese Buddhists and Rohingya Muslims died on Sunday in Kyauktaw, about 100 km north of the state capital Sittwe, said the official. The entire state has been under emergency rule since early June, when around 80 people from both sides were killed in clashes that also left tens of thousands of people homeless. Critics have accused Burmese security forces of participating in attacks on Rohingyas.
