[Myanmar] Rohingyas To Get New Schools, Says President

The government of Burmese President Thein Sein plans to open schools to provide Rohingya Muslims in Arakan Sate with a better education, according to a report by Voice of America (VOA). In an interview with VOA Burmese Service chief Than Lwin Htun, the president said that the move was necessary because most Rohingya currently study only at religious schools. “Once they become educated, they will be more thoughtful and can decide what is right and what is wrong,†he said. He also added that Burma needs to modify its 1982 Citizenship Law, but did not elaborate.
