Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra - August 17 & 18 "Bruckner 5"

Featured Replies

Principal Guest Conductor Claude Villaret returns to lead TPO in the performance of Anton Bruckner’s Symphony No. 5. Villaret is joined by Thai piano soloist Kwanchanok Pongpairoj for a performance of Mendelssohn’s Piano Concerto No. 1.

Anton Bruckner's Fifth Symphony is a symphonic colossus that occupied Bruckner for almost three years. He composed the work between February 1875 and May 1876, but put it aside for a year before completing his revisions a few years later. Bruckner never heard his Fifth Symphony performed due to his illness at the time of its premiere in 1894. This performance will be the first time this work has been performed in Thailand.

Hope you can come hear TPO! Last week the "newspaper that must not be named" has a special publication - the 66 Young Leaders of Thailand's Future. 65 Thais were chosen from various fields. The 66th selection was the TPO - the only organization on the list. Come check us out! And get ready for our new concert hall next year - Prince Mahidol Hall!
