August 21, 201213 yr Don't know if the death (at age 95) of this iconic American lady comedian will make the news posting here but I thought it should be mentioned. She was a pioneer and many of us grew up laughing to (at) her. Susan Horowitz, a stand-up comic and author of the 1997 book “Queens of Comedy,” called Ms. Diller a significant figure in American culture who rose to success through her wickedly self-mocking style. “The self-deprecation made her more endearing, more comfortable for people,” Horowitz said. “Everything she did was for the purpose of getting ahead.” http://www.washingto...038f_story.html
August 21, 201213 yr I remember watching Phyllis Diller as a young child, always loved her wild hair.
August 21, 201213 yr Wow!...........what a great innings, she made it to 95. Also one of my favourite comediennes, and I could not have said it better than Susan Horowitz, except from an Aussie point of being.... ....always admire anyone who can take the p%#s out of themselves and have a good laugh about it.
