Recommended Hotels In Chiang Rai.

A few questions for the locals. I am heading to Chiang Rai in mid October, and I am looking for a nice clean hotel, not too far from the city centre. Can anyone recommend anywhere?

I did do a search on this forum, and found a link to a Google map, with hotels marked on it, but it was last updated early 2011, so I was just wondering if there is any more up to date info. regarding any new ones that might have opened.

Also, how far from the centre of town are the Dusit Island, and the Meridien?

Thanks in advance for any info you can give.

Very nice too, but if the OP is interested in the Meridien or the Dusit Island it may not be fancy enough.

They are a little out of the city center but there's transport available to get you into town in about 10 minutes.

The Wang Come is about as close as you can get to the action and more reasonably priced.

Hi!

I forgot the name of this one,but maby another member remember it-it is brand new and located 200 meters from the Kings statue,on your left hand, heading out of town to Mae Sai-a pink building-looks very nice to me,but dont know what kind of standard it is.

Any one know anything about this ?

The Wiang Inn is a good hotel. It has a very reasonably priced buffet lunch that is frequented by probably more expat locals than hotel guests and the rooms are clean.

Literally a three minute walk from the Night Bazaar. and most of the local restaurants.

Neither the Dusit nor the Meridien are within comfortable walking distance of shopping or entertainment. The Dusit is getting a bit long in the tooth with the Meridien being by far the top property in Chiang Rai at the moment. They are both located on the river though, which is a plus for many.

Much of the appeal of Chiang Rai is to be found in the surrounding countryside, so arranging some form of transportation is must in my opinion. Unless you are into roughing it a bit, find a nice home base in Chiang Rai and do day trips to the other areas of interest while returning at the end of the day to a nice comfortable bed and a better selection of restaurants.

Thanks for all the input guys.

I tried going for the Wangcome, but for some reason it doesn't seem to be available on any of the sites that I have tried for mid October, i.e. Agoda, Tripadvisor etc. Perhaps fully booked, so will try the Wiang.

Try Starbright Boutique Hotel (if it is still there). Two mins from the night market and restaurants, good clean accom and helpful staff.

Wiang Inn is your best bet by far.. In the centre. Has a clean pool. Great buffet lunch. Kareoke bar and happy massage.. Behind the class type.. Three minute walk to night bazaar...Taxis Tuk tuks bars and seven elevens all at hand... Have a great stay
