And now I need a gym. Any idea where can you find a gym around bang kapi area?

I need a real gym. With weights and stuffs.

Been to the gym @ FBT. The weights are insufficient, and the gym is really too small. overcrowded evenings with lots of guys hanging their towels on benches while chatting with their mates/ BB/ iphone/ girls.

May not be much help, but there's Fitness First in The Mall, Bangkapi, which is quite nice, but tends to attract a lot of the 'Iphone' posers.

If you want a very good gym, but maybe a bit out of the way, down Ramkanghaeng Road, then I would suggest Ultimate Fitness, which is pretty hard core, and they've banned telephones and food in the gym.

There is a place right opposite NIDA, you cant miss it, huge building just before the traffic lights.

Cant comment, never been in it.

Next place, do you know soi nawamin?

If so there is a place on nawamin soi 10, if coming from Bang Kapi crossroads head up the soi, soi 10 is on your RH side, turn into the soi and on your LH side you will see a building opposite the local govt buildings.

Cant comment never been in it.

Been where ? Fitness First or Ultimate ?

Anyways, yes to both. Ultimate is more 'hardcore' for want of a better word, with less cardio machines. I like the place, as it is a no-nonsense gym. Maybe a little hard to find at first as it is in a nondescript building.

Great thanks. I will try the ultimate this week end.

What about the large SAT gym (Sports Authority of Thailand) under the Main Hua Mak stadium? I went inside and past it many times. Looks suitable.

Not sure if it opens daily. Been there a couple of evenings n it was closed.

Yes, I think you are right, but I was under the impression it only closed one day a week.

Just checked their web site and it says closed Sunday and public holidays.

Bht1,000/month or Bht250/day

www3.sat.or.th/satfitness

When I opened the site, I get a warning saying the site contains malware. But I ignored and was able to see the detail.

Their telephone numbers are: 023196871 or 023180940

Close to the FBT GYM - 300 meters down Ram. 65/mahatthai there is a nice gym, just by the gas station ( on top of the 7-11 )

Lots of dum bell free weights and a good machine park. And its not crowded. As far as I remember, it's 800bt a month :)

Just got a PM, asking for a better description on where that gym is. Maybe others have problems with interpret my guide...so here goes :-)

-------

It's "Ramkhamhaeng road, soi 65 - Thy old Thai name for the soi is "Soi Mahat Thai".

If you come from Ramkhamhaeng road, its about 400m down the soi, on your left hand. Also on your left hand, there is a Gas station, a "beach bar" on the other side of the road and a large 7-11, The gym is on top of the 7-11.

If you come from Lat Prao road(Soi 122), its about 900m down the road, and on your right...

GPS cordinates: +13° 45' 58.32", +100° 37' 24.29" (13.766199, 100.623415)

Good western style gym, that has both a lot of free weights, a good machine park, and gym/fitness/spinning classes for the lady's :-)

There are not enough benches.

Too many dek ram, posers and africans hang out there.

There is no car park, u can park at the 7-11 if you r lucky.

it's like 100 baht cheaper than the gym @ fbt building.

I can recommend this gym. They have dumbbells up to 75lbs, three bench pressing spots, power rack, two smith machines, lots of machines and cardio, Finnish sauna, clean towels every time you go in. Now the price is 1200thb/monthly membership. I prefer going in the morning if possible because at the evening it might be quite crowded. Overall pretty good value for the money imo.
