If you really want to get some fish on the line, then get away from the bar oriented/tourist trap towns and try some place like Udon Thani. You will find many gals more than willing to hit up on you. Even in the small gym I go to, there are staff members and college teachers that constantly ask my gal to find a foreign man for them. Its a normal thing up here. Do not expect them to move in with you on the first date, and be prepared that they may take an escort along with them. There is one store, not far from the airport, where you will see ladies that have their own shops. There are very few customers and they like to chat away with almost anyone that cares to say hello. OK...these are not the young, sexy bar gals that pretend to like you that many men prefer. As in many countries, divorce is on the rise and many of these gals have issues that might bother you. Children, families looking for cash to put down on a NEW car, etc. You most likely will run into some retired Phuket/Pattaya gals...but there are many that would not dream of going to those sort of places. Just take a walk around the park area at 5pm and notice the smiles and small talk. Very uplifting for me. LOL...yes, you will need to show you have some...$ power. Just rent a car for a few days...its enough. Get ready for a big family gathering right away. Networking works great here. no computer required....just get out and look decent and available. I have been in other bars where they been over me like a rash. The bottom line is cash. If they are skint they will love you. If they are flush they wont give you the time of day. If you are a young good looking dude you are obviously going to attract more attention than a fella with a face like a slapped ass or if you look like you have a wallet full of baht they will make more of an effort than some dude with the backside hanging out his shorts. However, you need to understand how a respectable Thai woman will approach a man. I have been approached by respectable Thai women on several occasions. The common theme is the following: 1. I go to many events for work, and am exposed to many Thai (and Western) people. 2. I never actively hit on Thai women at these events – if flirting occurs, it is very general, and I am always introduced by someone. Therefore, the Thai women I meet at these venues believe that I am a good, solid man. 3. At later events, the Thai women that I have met will usually introduce me to their friends – invariably, this was someone who asked to be introduced to me. They usually track me down on Facebook after this and start putting out the signals. I have been out of the dating pool for a while now – but the above strategy has led to good relationships in Thailand. If your purpose, however, is to add notches to your belt, the above strategy is not for you. There are also a number of “farang hunters” at these events who will make the first move. I stay faaaaar away from them. Friends have gone this route and the problems, even though the girls are educated, with decent jobs, is about the same as what you hear all too often. That, or my wife gets asked to get them a Farang. She got asked today if I didn't smell of rotting fish... you have to laugh.. I try not to look, but dam_n it, some of them look really good. I am 64 and unfortunately have to stay faithful. I have also been felt up in public in front of my wife, who 'doesn't sit on her mouth' in certain circumstances.
