Stayng in Thailand,

which kind of chocolate are you used to buy? Do you find every you looks for?

And which kind of chocolate it's your favourite (cakes, bisquits, bars, candies, mousse, beverage...)?

Do you miss anything around chocolate there?

Or... any chocolate dream who cannot be satisfied in Asia?

A'm really, really interested... whistling.gif

I am a chocoholic, but try to eat low carb, so only go with the dark. I couldn't find decent chocolate here for a decent price, so I ordered a 5 kg block of Callebaut 70-30-38NV Extra Bittersweet chocolate bloc, 71% cocoa, 11 lbs., cost delivered to US, $88.84. My sister reshipped. Ordered from https://www.chocosphere.com/ Best prices; great service!

It was a helluva block! My sister never lets me hear the end of it. She was shocked when she saw it. I think it was something like 19" x 11" x 2".

I was a real chocoholic at one time, however have cut back a little now, and I really do think that the best chocolate I have ever tasted has to be the one that you can buy here called "Ritter Sport", especially the dark whole hazelnut chocolate bar. The only chocolate I will eat now.

Ritter is good, the almond is best however.

Lindt a nice swiss choco is as good and maybe slightly better.

I did prefer Cadbury, but not available here now and has allowed me to explore others and fond some nice swiss, german and Belgium chocs.

I miss Fry's Turkish Delight, Big Turk, Coffee Crisp & Mars bars.

My choco fix now is a digestive bisquit covered with nutella.

I saw Frys TD in Tops Central Lad prao fairly recently just for your information.

I miss double deckers. That's the only thing.

Schmidt sell Callebaut chocolate, I think it's about 400 baht/kg depending on the type. Not sure if they have that exact one though. but maybe worth a look when you run out.

Thank you for this first answers.

Nutella is very famous here, every one kid of my generation used it for breakfast almost for a few part of his life, and also if a real junky food... it is so good to forget it dipping the spoon inside the cup... the one founded in Thailand comes for Australia, but it's same same as in Italy...

Ritter me too i consider pretty good product, Lindt i don't like so much.

A very nice chocolate shop in Bangkok is Cherubin, in Sukhumwit soi 33, next to Bella Napoli pIzzeria.

But i seen a lot of chocolate shops growing in the malls in the last two years, and a'm sure the consumption will grow very fast here also.

Just the heat is a serious limit...

I'll continue to study whistling.gif

There is a place on highway 11 between Big C Extra (old Carrefour) and Makro on the opposite of the road. It is called YOK. They have blocks of Dark unsweetened 1Kg for 295 baht. I don't know how to compare it to what you bought as I don't speak Thai and the store does not have a lot of info about the products they sell. If you speak Thai or have someone who does and knows how to ask the right questions I'd be interested in what you can find out about this product. They also have bags of Cocoa, but I don't know how refined they are. I am looking for something that is as raw as possible. Most refine out the epicatechins as these are bitter. However they are probably the healthiest part of cocoa. They also have great deals on things like extra virgin Olive oil in large quantities.

For those who like Belgian Chocolate there is a specialist shop on Sukhumvit, Bangkok, between Sois and 33 and 33/1 - can't remember the name at the moment though!

They may have also opened up a tiny stall at central world?

Can't say I miss any in particular, but that could be cos I get a decent regular fix lol

Has varied from choc bars, to the nice cakes,, brownies, to the nutella.

Ohhh wait.......I miss getting a proper iced chocolate. Impossible to find here!

I usually bring back a lot of chocolate when I visit the US as I find most chocolate in Bangkok either too expensive or not that good. I have found that IKEA has pretty good chocolate bars for not too bad of a price. I just hate driving to Bang Na just for a chocolate fix. smile.png
