Road Conditions Between Phuket And Bankgok

Featured Replies

Am looking for a nice route to bike between Phuket & Bangkok but am hearing the [main?]roads North from Phuket up the peninsula are in terrible shape from overloaded trucks and/or general neglect. Any road reports from dudes who;ve traversed the area in the last six months?

Thanks mucho for any ride reports!

The main highway is rather boring and tends to get pretty torn up during the rainy season.

When we rode it this spring on our way to and from Malaysia it was in pretty good repair and we got lucky- no rain and light traffic both ways.

The highway up the Ranong coast is beautiful but you can expect pretty solid rain this time of year. (Ranong is the wettest province in Thailand).

Good luck!

thanks for the heads up, Richard! The coast road sounds good. I don't mind rain, as I have a proper rainsuit, and the rain temps here arent going to give one pneumonia like in Northern Cali and the Western States' mountains.

Richard.! You trying to pick a fight with Tony lmao
