i am living in greece and i am greek(eu passport) in 9/10/12 i am flying to bkk then to krabi till 26/10/12.then i ll return in greece for 2-3 weeks and then i ll fly again in thailand and i ll try to stay the most i ll be able.

what kind of visa should i take to stay as longer as i can?

A triple or double entry tourist visa from a Thai Embassy/consulate outside of Thailand.

A double entry would give you 2 entries of 60 days each, that can be extended, a triple, three entries.

my first trip is going to last 45 days.can i take a 30 days tourist and then extend it for 15 days?

and then i ll be able to take a double or triple?

here in greece i heard that the thai embassy doesnt give double or triple entry.do you know another embassy that does it?

i ve heard that the thai embassy in rome does it.

No you can make a land border run and get 15 days. Gather all of the info you can figure out what works and then just make a decision

Confusing! Your first post indicates that your first trip will be only 17 days, 9/10/12 to 26/10/12 = 17 days, so a 30 day visa exempt entry sould be Okay. As far as the Thai consulate in Greece, you should contact them direct to find out how many entries that they will issue on a tourist visa, not rely on hearsay. Their website is : Website : http://www.thaiembassy.org/athens

I believe he is asking for new visa obtained during the 2-3 weeks return stay in Greece to provide the longest stay and the first answer is correct if he can obtain but if only a single entry available he should get that for the first 90 days (with extension) and then plan to visit another consulate in the area of Thailand for further tourist visas if he does not plan to use ED non immigrant visas/extensions for study. He should not try to travel without a visa for a period longer than 30 day visa exempt entry as airline will likely not allow.

sorry the mistake is mine.

i am flying from greece at 9/10/12 and i ll be there at 10/10/12 and i will fly back to athens at 26/11/12

so i am going to stay 46 days my first time and then i want to stay as more with multiple entries visa till i find the place i like to take an ED visa.

You must obtain your "Ed Visa" out of the country, ie from the Thai consulate/embassy in your country, or any surrounding country, Laos, Cambodia etc.

for my first trip can i take just a 30 days tourist visa and then fly to laos or cambodia and take one more 30 days visa or extend my 1st visa for 7 or 15 or 30 days?i ll have booked a ticket to prove them that i ll be out of thailand before the 30 days.

i am asking this cause i want to take a double or triple multi entry visa in my second trip.this will allow me to stay in thailand 6 or 9 months to help find where i am going to stay and to find a good school for ed visa.

It would seem more logical to arrive with a 2 or 3 entry tourist visa as they are normally easier to obtain in home country and then you would not even need onward flight proof for airline. Or if trips are at different times just a single entry for first visit which would allow 60 day stay and 30 day extension? 30 day visa exempt entry can not be extended (7 days to leave is what you get if you try - so most will say 7 day extension but passport will be marked denied). But yes you can come on visa exempt and return for a new 30 day visa exempt stamp if you want.

XxSMIL3xX, let's try and clarify what your travel plans are.

Trip No 1: Fly to Thailand, stay 45 days, fly back to Greece.

For this, you should get a single-entry tourist visa from a Thai consulate in Greece.

Trip No. 2: Two to three weeks after your return to Greece, fly to Thailand again and stay as long as possible.

Check with the Thai consulate in Greece what documents they require for a triple-entry tourist visa valid for six months. If you can get this visa, it will be valid for three entries into Thailand within six months or 180 days – depends on the consulate – from the issue date of the visa. On each arrival in Thailand you will be given permission to stay for 60 days and you can get a 30-day extension of stay of stay from any immigration office in Thailand. This means you can

  • stay 90 days after your first entry (including extension)
  • do a border run, ie leave Thailand to enter a neighbouring country and return to Thailand on the same day, and stay almost 90 days after your second entry (including extension)
  • do another border run immediately before your visa expires and stay again 90 days after your third entry (including extension)

To get the most out of this visa you should obtain it as close as possible to your departure date from Greece.
