I have done a few brake jobs but never heard of copper paste? Is this for a super high end type bike....In the usa we usually get a tube of quieting lube included with the pads. This goes between the pad a piston. What does copper paste due exactly?

The copper paste is a high temp grease. Stops things seizing up and helps with noise caused by vibration.

it goes between the oad abd the shims

i did not know that either, but google did.

It does not have to be copper grease. Any good heavy grease will work. I like synthetic grease, but it can be harder to find. And most modern brake pads are made in a way to reduce the friction and eliminate squealing from the contact with the caliper pistons. I have occassionaly not used grease when changing brake pads, and didn't have any squealing problems, at least not from the brakes. w00t.gif

I thought you meant rubber grease. I have been using it for years when fitting new seals to the brake pistons, and other parts. It's castor oil based grease it won't cause problems for the brake fluid.

No, he means "Kupferpaste" (copper paste, if you translate it to english)

In Germany, we use it to avoid "squealing" or seizure problems.

Here are some examples of application.

I usually buy a few tubes in Germany too and bring them back to TH.

But you can buy them at the "Hardwarehouse" too.
