Sathorn is quite a long rd. No, all places want deposit the same as anywhere else in the world on a per month basis.

I have rented 6 apartments in Thailand. My current one is the only one where I was not asked for a deposit, at all the others I was asked for 3 months rent on move-in (current month, final month & damage deposit). No one wants penniless tenants, especially the sort who are likely to leave the country without notice.
