'rich' Usb Modem - How To Unlock In Malaysia?

Hello all,

I have a 'RICH' usb dongle/modem, worked fine with an AIS (aircard???) SIM in Thailand.

Am in Penang for a month, have a Celcom SIM which will work (very slowwwwww) with an ancient ZTE mobile 'phone with inbuilt modem.

Need some tips - win7 will recognise the modem, install drivers, but cannot activate the SIM. No idea how to do this in linux, but previously in linux was able to use 'phone after installing 'wine' interface.

Thx in advance, AA

'RICH' is the brand? - at least, there is a sticker with 'RICH' on the casing. Win recognises it as 'EDGE MODEM', sorry about that... AA

You need to find name and model number most likely inside where sim card goes. Then you might be able to find unlock instructions on the internet for this Air card.

If it is an EDGE modem, it will still be slow. Perhaps time to move to 3 or 4G.

What the ^&%$ is a 'RICH' USB modem? Unless you come up with a proper description, this thread will go nowhere.

My thoughts exactly. I think he answered his own question there.. its Edge and its slow.. cheesy.gif

Either way, I can't imagine that the modem is locked, so it should just be a matter of entering the relevant APN, username and password and dial number for Celcom.
