Chip And Mod Nintendo Wii

Does anyone know the current going rate to give my Wii a little freedom? I was quoted THB1,500 which seems rather expensive - about the same price as getting a Play Station done in Australia. It's possible that the chip is expensive, in which case I'll pay it, but also possible that I was quoted 'special farang price' - a Thai told me about THB500 (which I think is too low and may only be to modify, not chip). I know THB1,500 isn't a lot of money, I just really dislike it when people try to overcharge by a large percentage.

why do you need it chipped? I did my own Wii via software mod and play any and everything... PAL/NTSC... whatever.... with a bit of patience and reading on the web, all the info is there and it is not complicated.

sorry to piggyback this thread but does anyone know where to source for cheap used ones? im looking to buy 3-5 sets to donate to the nurseries in maehongson but the last time i check in chiangmai, a new one cost a whopping 11k baht. the ones in ebay i seen are going like only 90 bucks for a sparkling condition. my budget is about 3-5k per set
