DPM Somkid to negotiate with Thai Airways to launch direct flights from Bangkok to Hokkaido to capture Japanese tourists

Deputy Prime Minister and Commerce Minister Somkid Jatusripitak (สมคิด จาตุศรีพิทักษ์) revealed after presiding the opening of “Thainess to the World” campaign in Sapparo, Japan that the Ministry of Commerce will negotiate with Thai Airways International Public Company Limited to launch direct flights from Bangkok to the island of Hokkaido, where Sapparo city is situated.

Dr. Somkid stated that currently, there are 1.8 million of people in the city, but a minor group of residents have traveled to Thailand. He said that if Thailand provides more travel convenience and publicizes more on tourism, then Thai tourism would eventually gain benefits.

The Commerce Minister added that his ministry will speed up in promoting the tourism, culture and life styles of Thailand to other countries. Meanwhile, the next “Thainess to the World” campaign will be organized in France at the end of this month. He said a meeting will be held with concerned agencies on the 17th and 18th of February.
