Moving To Thailand Which Vaccines Can I Get Once I'm There?

Basically what the title says, the wait time here is so long for vaccinations, what is the wait time in Thailand, is it not recommended to wait? We won't be stomping through the rain forests or anything like that without the shots. Also we won't go out much except to eat until we get the shots needed. What do you need in Thailand to get all of the shots? Do you need a work permit, etc.?

I saw another post like this, also from a Canadian, which is why I looked at your profile. I got many of the shots recommended before I came here, tetanus seemed only sensible, did diphtheria, rabies and hepatitis at the same time. However I know that many people don't bother with any of this at all. If you think that you are going to catch a disease just by walking into a restaurant, or that having all the shots will prevent you from catching diseases, then maybe Thailand is not for you. There is no vaccine against Dengue for example, Malaria can be difficult to prevent.

To get shots, just go to a hospital and tell them what you want. Not expensive.

You can get the more common shots such as Tetanus , Diphtheria etc done at the small clinics that seem to be everywhere. You just walk in, tell them what you want, and they jab you. These places are also far cheaper than the hospitals ( I paid B100 / shot for tetanus booster last year), although if you don't speak Thai, and don't have someone who does to take with you, then it may be a lot less hassle just to go to a hospital. Lastly, for the Hepatitis A & B shots, I had to go to a hospital to get them done.

You can get everything here on demand, but in some cases it would be wiser to start the series before departure.

The most important vaccines IMO are hep A + B and rabies. Depending on your age, you may already have been immunized for Hep A. Check your records.

If you are going to be in rural areas much then Japanese B encephalitis is worth considering.

Sheryl, I am 50 and had Hep A and B jabs a little over 10 years ago. I get conflicting info on whether I need boosters after 10 years or not. Some sources suggest I am OK for life. Do you have a position on this? Thanks in advance.
