Sr20Det

looks like a rust bucket.

Hard to tell from the pic, but it looks like the engine has been painted flat black. If so, the engine will stay cooler than if is has been powder coated with a bunch of colors. Does look nice and flashy though. thumbsup.gif

In regards to the SR20 engines.....the water pump will cavitate at sustained high engine speeds (as usually experienced in racing competition), and cause it to overheat. Underdrive pulleys and oversized radiators do help this out a bit though.

Even easier and useful is to install a thermostat but remove the center portion to create some back pressure on the pump without causing a serious restriction, problem solved..

TC, Can't be certain but I believe those rotors are probably going to be rubbish anyways in favor of an upgrade.. As for the engine it does seem less prepared then the way I do as does the suspension but seldom do people build these competition cars to the standards I do which is why I do 90% myself.. The suspension bolts for example would be blasted rust proofed and coated to prevent future corrosion but again that's just me, otherwise it's coming along nicely..

Looking good but never liked gauges located down low like that, really kind of useless, at speed need to be sussed at a glance and still be able to see your way..Like these, things just happen too quickly..

You have 2 perfectly useless A/C vents in the dash that would have made excellent gauge mounting points with plenty of other wasted space in between. Honestly you could still use the same mounting panel and just move it up with the top row of gauges equaling the dash height and a bracket extending back to provide it support and use the vents to run your hoses and wires through and close it in neatly around the perimeter to finish it off and contour it with your dash.

Nice looking job.

I took my test in a MK1 Escort. My driving instructor had a BMC 1100 or 1300, can't remember which and then changed to the Escort.

Slightly off topic but I saw a Ford Anglia 105E here in Mahasarakham at the weekend.

That does age you a bit I think. I nearly bought a 105E from a friend of my dad's,can't remember why I didn't now. I see to remember that they appeared to have a very low first gear. At least the ones I drove seemed to pull away very quickly in first.

On the downside the back window meant there was nowhere to put your nodding dog.

MURPH. At least You do Something .Well Done from Me. Dont go crazy on the Brakes. DS11,and VG95 linings are adequate.thumbsup.gif

I'm doing something, just not over there, in the process of building an Rx8 for the track will post pics when it begins to take shape..

Besides, nothing wrong with those who have experience passing on some of it in the way of advice is there?

Except that for the track, brakes are the best thing you can do, if you can stop quicker, brake later with less effort and hold speed longer you'll kick ass, they're more important then good acceleration as scrubbing off momentum is easier then recovering it, plus the longer your on the brakes the less time you're on the gas..

True but the rear brakes are not doing much half the time on the Escort.coffee1.gif
