Last time i forgot to bring my used notebook from europe. so i want to order my relatives to send it over.

do i have to pay some kind of import taxes or anything if they open it at the customs here in thailand?

I don't think it can be guaranteed whether you need to pay or not. It's kind of like rolling the dice, sometimes you pay and sometimes you don't. If you use Fedex though the dice are far more loaded in the direction of needing to pay high duty. When I used to get vitamins and supplements I was getting taxed at 120% so I don't do it that way anymore.

Computers are technically Import duty free.

However you will pay an agent (Usually Fedex,UPS,DHL) to clear it anywhere between 500-1500THB. Then 7% VAT on the computer + shipping charge added together.

Shipping is less hassle with postal service, like Royal Mail etc. Be sure to send by signature mail eg. registered. But like previous poster, probably be cheaper just to buy a new one here and have local warranty.

Try buying a Alienware, high end Dell or HP here. Most definitely not cheaper to buy in Thailand.

I personally would by from US and use shipito.com for their discounted shipping rates.
