Google Earth

Featured Replies

Google are no known for their generosity,so how do they make any money from Google Earth?

I ask this because I went to 3Bb in Airport Plaza to enquire about their internet offers, since Cat CDMA is apparenty being phased out.

On giving the assistant my address, she went to her computer and obviously Google Earth.

To my amazement, with what had to be street view, she was able to pinpoint and show exactly my house location,

Now I don't live out in the wilds, but certainly not on the beaten track,so I was amazed that Google had driven arround in the area for street view.I am guessing that the aeriel views need to be paid for to NASA but the street views in a fairly low concentrated residential area have to be paid for by Google.

So just how do they justify the costs?

All the good stuff they put out there is paid back (and then some to nth degree) via advertising dollars. I love the business model myself, don't we all. Some people pay for special premium membership to google earth anyway. Google seems very trustworthy, but just imagine all the data they are able to collect at this point via their email accounts.

The Pro addition is $399 USD per year. And as mentioned, advertising dollars - example is Google AdWords Express which targets businesses as it pertains to Google Maps/Earth
