Jingthing Posted November 29, 2012 Posted November 29, 2012 Thailand emotionally tied with countries such as Mexico, Egypt, U.K., South Africa, and Portugal, etc. Thailand much LESS emotional than the Philippines, Canada, U.S.A., and Peru, etc. Who knew? http://www.washingto...onal-countries/ Since 2009, the Gallup polling firm has surveyed people in 150 countries and territories on, among other things, their daily emotional experience. I know many people are going to pooh-pooh this poll, but I've traveled to many countries and I'm not really surprised very much about most of the ratings. Especially the Philippines being so high and Singapore so low in emotion. 1
cheeryble Posted November 29, 2012 Posted November 29, 2012 If by emotional you mean prone to blubbing at the slightest excuse Americans must surely come top of the list. I don't know if it was always like that....somehow doubt it.....but on TV big grown men seem to be constantly fighting back tears. Mind you, with cost of the completely corrupt US health system, a perfect example of capitalism not working, I'm not surprised. The average Thai I find quite tough......they're generally troopers.
barefoot1988 Posted November 29, 2012 Posted November 29, 2012 im alitle confused, is that a good thing? isnt being least and emotionally neutral the best in many things, like decision making, driving, character judgement etc etc perhaps thats the reason why more than 1 out of 6 of their resident houshold had a disposable wealth of more than a million usd, excluding properties and business

Given your astute evaluation how come the US and Canada are the same, explain please.
Jingthing Posted November 30, 2012 Author Posted November 30, 2012 Who knew?... Who cares?... Who's on first ... ?Some of those emotional Americans: 2
krisb Posted November 30, 2012 Posted November 30, 2012 Sorry I just find this whole thing to hard to understand...
seefaonuma Posted November 30, 2012 Posted November 30, 2012 Not surprise , where ever we use less reason , there will more emotional .
CaptHaddock Posted December 1, 2012 Posted December 1, 2012 It's hard to see the Thais as more emotional than Indians. The Indians seem especially prone to mob riots that kill large numbers of other Indians because of religious differences. Impulsive riots, as opposed to calculated political actions that may involve violence, seem to be rare in Thailand.

What about the school rivalries in Thailand that are responsible for many deaths and injuries? http://www.globalpost.com/dispatch/thailand/100917/trade-schools-culture-education A violent coming-of-age for the boys who power Thailand’s industrial sector.
SiameseCurios Posted December 1, 2012 Posted December 1, 2012 I know many people are going to pooh-pooh this poll, but I've traveled to many countries and I'm not really surprised very much about most of the ratings. Especially the Philippines being so high and Singapore so low in emotion. True. And good topic, btw. That map is interesting. Why do you think countries on the west coast of South America (Peru, Ecuador, etc) are more emotional that those of the east coast (Brasil in particular)? As for the PI coming out tops, I used to date a hi-so girl from Manila. NEVER AGAIN!!!! Five phone calls per day: crying; sulking; endless proclamations of love. She almost drove me crazy. I ended up hating her.
Jingthing Posted December 1, 2012 Author Posted December 1, 2012 Although it's not revealed in the color coded map, the poll also got into the question of different kinds of emotion, at least basically, positive vs. negative. As people we are not robots so emotions are part of our makeup. For example, Panama rates very high in POSITIVE emotion while Bahrain rates very high in NEGATIVE emotion. 1

I wondered about that. There's a huge difference between an overly emotional, ecstatic Brazilian and an overly emotional, NASTY Moroccan. I've seen both. And I know which I prefer.
