Despite these online rumours, only typical summer storms with occasional thunder, strong gusts, and rare hail are expected in certain regions over the coming days. Public officials urge Thai citizens to refrain from sharing unverified news, promoting awareness of official communication from the Thai Meteorological Department as the sole reliable source for weather updates. Crime Manhunt for Myanmar National After Fatal Home Invasion in Bangkok
UPDATE Myanmar National Suspected in Murder of Elderly Fitness Centre Owner Now in Custody Picture courtesy of Khaosod. Police have confirmed the arrest of a 23-year-old Myanmar national, Mr. Sai Harn, suspected of murdering a 70-year-old fitness centre owner in Bangkok, following a manhunt and a 20,000 baht reward offer for information leading to his capture. The victim, Mr. Yuttharot Suwansumet, was the proprietor of a local fitness facility and employer of the suspect’s pregnant wife. He was fatally shot inside his home in Soi Rom Sai 12, Bang Khae district, on 10 May. The killing followed a heated confrontation during which Mr. Sai Harn is alleged to have threatened his own wife, who is five months pregnant, prompting her employer to intervene. According to investigators, a struggle ensued between the suspect and Mr. Yuttharot, who reportedly brandished a .38 calibre revolver to protect the woman. During the altercation, the firearm discharged, fatally wounding the elderly man. Mr. Sai Harn then fled the scene in the victim’s Honda car, taking both the weapon and the victim’s mobile phone. The vehicle was later discovered abandoned along Vibhavadi Rangsit Road in front of the Royal Thai Police flats in Chatuchak District. The car’s keys were left in the ignition, and it bore signs of a frontal collision with the licence plate missing. Witnesses saw the suspect leave the area on a public bus bound for Rangsit. A combined investigation led by Pol. Lt. Gen. Chotiwat Luangwilai, Commander of the Metropolitan Police Bureau’s Investigation Division, along with senior officers from Phetkasem Police Station and Division 9, traced the suspect’s movements using CCTV footage. He was seen entering Rangsit Market shortly after abandoning the vehicle. Despite an intensive search, the suspect managed to elude police for two days. However, at around 20:00 on 12 May, police arrested Mr. Sai Harn in Soi On Nut 65 as he was attempting to seek shelter at his wife’s former employer’s residence. Pol. Col. Pramote Chanboonkaew of Phetkasem Police confirmed that the arrest was made under a warrant issued by the Thonburi Criminal Court (No. 507/2568), charging Mr. Sai Han with murder and related offences.
