Need Info On Iphone 4S Or 5

Featured Replies

With out all the technical jargon most of what i don't understand , I am wondering what is my best option to buy the iphone 4s or 5 , I want one but dont know the real difference and is the difference in price worth it?

I may be wrong but i understand the 4s was not much of an upgrade from the 4 whereas the 5 is much much better. And the obvious and most important is how much cooler is it to be able to say " actually yes it is the new iphone 5"

Probably best over in the Apple forum.

Topic Moved.

Both are pretty much the same, but iPhone 5 is faster.

4s is cheaper now, but why buy an older model.

On the other hand why pay more for pretty much identical phone but faster.

Depends what you will be using it for. Size wise I prefer the 4s, speed wise the 5

I have had iPhones from 3GS to 5(now)

Functionality wise 5 is the best , size wise the worst

The 5 has many improvements in the details -

- Looks much better - the new design makes the old look tired and old. Hold one in your hand, it's pretty obvious then.

- Better camera, better low light performance, zero delay - I was amazed I could go from a locked phone to talking an actual picture within 1 second. That's as good as a DSLR.

- Better noise reduction - use it in a loud place and be amazed.

- Lighter - not much on paper, but it counts in the pocket. It's almost too light.

- Much faster. Then again, the 4S is plenty fast for everything too.

- LTE (if you ever travel to a country that has it... not in Thailand)

As for size, it's longer but also thinner so I'd say it's a toss-up.

Get an iPhone 5. If I had an iPhone 4S, I probably wouldn't upgrade, but if you're buying new anyway $100 more is well worth getting a 5.

I'd guess there is something similar on the Apple site?

112 grams weight is crazy for the iPhone 5... so is 7.6mm thickness... 3 mics vs 2 makes a big difference for noise reduction. I'd forgotten about the "EarPods" ear buds - those are excellent compared to the ones before.

Face detection in photos is great, if somewhat eerie, I mean I guess people are used to this, cameras have had it for a while but this is my first face-detecting phone camera. Works much better than I expected. (The 4S also had face detection - I never had a 4S)
