Availability Of Psychiatric Medications

Featured Replies

Hi, does anyone know if the following medications (or similar) are available in LoS:

Quetiapine (Seroquel)

Pregabalin (Lyrica)

Olanzapine (Zyprexa)

Also, do you know of a good, preferably Western, psychiatrist and a good therapist in Phuket?

Thanks

Lyrica is available at 70 baht a 75mg cap/

Olanzapine is also available, both as Zyprexa and as a locally made generic equivalent (Olapin-10). Quetiapine is likewise available, both as Seroquel and locally made Quantia. However (and understandably) both of these drugs are "speacial controlled drugs" requiring a doctor's prescripion and usually found only in hospital pharmacies.

In terms of where to find a pyschiatrist, your best bet is Bangkok Phuket Hospital which has 2 full time on staff and a number of others who consult there. http://www.phukethospital.com/Doctor-Specialist/Psychiatry.html

Of those whose qualifications are listed, Dr. Ngamwong Jarusuraisin looks to me like the best bet as a first try.

I am afraid I do not know of any counselors/therapists in Phuket, there are only a limited number in Thailand and most are concentrated in Bangkok, see
