Blood Pressure Still High After Medications

Featured Replies

My mother 80yo is on blood pressure tabs...........300 mg of Avapro a day. 1 a day

Her blood pressure was 180 over i think 80 and since she started 3 months ago ago its now 160.. but still too high.

I told her to go back to the Doctor.../however im unsure what they can do for her ,she is on 300 mg a day,a lot in my opinion.

Is there stronger ones? What else could the doctor do?

avapro is a alpha blocker, a pretty strong medication. at her age, im not sure of other medication but if its not going down, you need to see the doctor asap for further advice.

my grandmother is at 84, taking avapro as well. similarly, not working very well. under the advise of her doctor, we did some adjustment to her diet and it works very well. you might google for a diet plan for high blood pressure.

personally we had extremely good results of apple cinder within days. for a start, try a tablespoon of apple cinder with water every morning

There are many different types of blood pressure medication and it is not unusual for a patient to need to take 2 or more different ones in combination to get their BP under control. The doctor will likely add an additional medication, and she should see him ASAP as she is at risk of stroke etc.

I'm on three different medication to control my blood pressure. Have been taking blood pressure medication for 30 years. I suggest you buy a blood pressure cuff and you can keep track of it. But definitely to high at 160. Take her in to Dr. soon.
