garyk
Here are a couple from Leam pac Bia, I think that is the way you spell it. These two are common as dirt, but not to Thailand. So a bit unusual. Collared Pratincole & Bay-backed Shrike

T_Dog
Heard of albino but a black sparrow ? black sparrow.JPG I'll believe anything! We are still trying to identify a bird that has showed up a few times. It looks like a large Ashy Woodswallow until it flies when it flashes blue. (Finch beak and larger than our resident Kingfishers.) Beautiful bird, but haven't been able to get a photo yet.

T_Dog
Have been trying to identify this bird that has showed up every afternoon for the last week. These photos are not very good, but you can see the size difference from a Myna bird. The body is a slate grey with a hint of blue. When he flies, he has a distinctive slow flap and looks almost hawk-like and the wings flash blue with a black stripe. We thought a monster Kingfisher had shown up until we noticed the short beak. His normal behavior is to roost high in a tree for quite a while. All help appreciated.
T_Dog
In trying to identify the bird in my prior post, I came across this excellent listing of birds in Thailand. Just move your cursor over the bird for the title. Unfortunately, the bird above does not appear to be in the collection. http://www.flickr.com/photos/revs45/sets/72157617227417637/

That is indeed the bird, and your identification also solves a two year old mystery. When we were building the house and camping out, a large bird would perch near a light we put up on a tall pole at dusk. It's aerobatic display catching insects was amazing and I am fairly sure it was an Indian Roller due to its size and flight style.
